Job Description RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).
Position Summary The Research Associate will report to the Principal Investigator (PI), Dr. Alexandre Lehmann, who is a cognitive neuroscientist, Associate Professor at McGill University, Adjunct Professor at Université de Montréal, and Principal Investigator at the Centre for Research on Brain Language and Music (CRBLM) and at the MUHC-RI Brain Repair & Integrative Neuroscience Program.
The incumbent will be involved in the development and implementation of research studies, writing of reports, academic papers, grant applications, and presentations. and other administrative, as well as associated administrative tasks.
General Duties
- Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the incumbent,
- Actively participates in the execution of the research projects ongoing in the laboratory,
- Is responsible for various administrative tasks (including budgets, management of meetings, and focus groups, minute-taking, and grant/protocol writing),
- Supports and supervise members of the lab with their research projects,
- Provides training to new recruits, students and staff,
- Establishes research methods, designs protocol, advances research and breaks new grounds,
- Troubleshoots research issues and resolves problems in design,
- Develops models and runs simulations,
- Reviews and evaluates research findings and determines results, prepares reports and manuscripts,
- Participate in local, national and international collaborations,
- Participates in group meetings and in the general day-to-day management of Dr. Lehmann research projects,
- Accomplishes any other related tasks as required by the immediate supervisor.

Education: Doctorate Degree
Field of Study: PhD in Neuroscience
Work Experience: ≥ 5 ans
Required Skills
- Expertise required: signal processing, data mining, machine learning, MATLAB, Python, data analysis, statistics, psychoacoustics, and biomedical signals acquisition,
- Expertise in audiology or speech & language pathology,
- Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans – TCPS 2,
- Prior experience as a post-doctoral researcher, research assistant, or research associate,
- Work experience in a hospital setting (experience with OACIS, Nagano...),
- Experience in project coordination and management,
- Experience in data analysis and statistics,
- Solid experience in scientific writing (peer-review publications and grant applications),
- Team player, excellent organizational skills, rigor,
- Autonomy, ability to work with minimum supervision,
- Problem-solving skills,
- Excellent French and English, spoken and written,
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
- Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision.
Additional information
Status: Temporary, full time (35-hour workweek)
Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience. $54,327.00 - $100,882.60.
Work Shift: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm
Work Site: GLEN Site, 1001 boul. Decarie
