Inspired delivers a world-class education built around academic excellence, sports, performing arts, and character development. We are seeking a passionate and student-centered Music Teacher to join our outstanding Performing Arts Department. This is a full-time, one-year contract beginning in September 2026, with the potential for continued employment. The successful candidate will primarily teach Music from JK–Grade 5 while contributing to our vibrant co-curricular music and performing arts program. Recognized as one of the school's signature programs, Newton's Grove Music offers students exceptional performance opportunities, including experiences at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall and in cities including London, Vienna, Sydney, and New York City.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deliver engaging and inspiring Music lessons for students from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 5, aligned with the Ontario Curriculum. Plan and deliver a well-rounded music program that develops students' musical knowledge, creativity, performance skills, and appreciation for music. Lead and direct the school's elementary choir, preparing students for concerts and school events. Deliver high-quality Orff-based music instruction that promotes active music-making and creativity. Teach and support Musical Theatre, developing students' confidence in singing, acting, and stage performance. Support beginner instrumental and band students in collaboration with the Instrumental Music Director. Direct and produce Middle School musical theatre productions, overseeing rehearsals and performances. Accompany rehearsals, performances, and productions as a proficient pianist. Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that encourages student participation and artistic growth. Participate actively in concerts, assemblies, extracurricular performances, and the wider life of the school community.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification or strong familiarity with the Ontario Curriculum. Experience teaching Music to elementary-aged students in a school setting. A strong background in Musical Theatre, including vocal performance and stage production. Excellent vocal skills with the ability to coach and develop young singers. Strong piano proficiency, with confidence accompanying rehearsals and live performances. Experience leading choirs, ensembles, or school musical productions. Knowledge of Orff methodology and its application within elementary music education. Experience supporting beginner instrumental and band students is considered an asset. Outstanding classroom management, organizational, and collaborative skills. A creative, energetic, and enthusiastic approach to teaching, with a genuine passion for arts education and a commitment to contributing to the broader life of the school community.
