Make a difference in the lives of young learners every day. Sturgeon Public Schools is seeking a Full-Time Temporary Child & Youth Care Worker to provide direct support to students at Camilla School.
Located just 15 minutes northwest of St. Albert, Camilla School moved into its new building in 2022 and serves 500 students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 9. With a strong culture of academic excellence and inclusive support, Camilla is committed to meeting the needs of a diverse student population.
This role will work directly with teachers and educational assistants to support elementary students in the Grade 1 classroom.
What You'll Be Doing
- Observe, assess, and document student behaviours and safety needs
- Support and participate in classroom activities
- Teach and assist students with classroom and life skills
- Provide encouragement and assistance with academics
- Build trust and rapport through positive interactions and activities
- Offer alternative coping strategies for developmental and situational challenges
- Intervene in crisis situations when necessary
- Maintain a therapeutic approach to behaviour management
- Collaborate with teachers to problem-solve and make decisions
- Stay current on professional practices in child and youth care
- Participate in school events and professional learning opportunities
What You Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Child and Youth Care or Social Work
- Diploma in Child and Youth Care (may be considered)
- Minimum 2 years of related experience
- Knowledge of addiction and mental health
- Understanding of the developmental, educational, and social needs of children, youth, and families
- First Aid certification
- Suicide Prevention and Indigenous Cultural Training
- Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and CARE Training
- Passion for outdoor education
- Clear Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check

Important to Note: Sturgeon Public Schools offers a competitive salary range based on experience and education as well as a comprehensive benefits package, as per the General Employment Conditions. Hours of work are 35 hrs/week.
