About the role
###The Project Coordinator will be part of a team responsible for:
- Completing micro-tunneling drives using a variety of equipment.
- Executing deep shaft excavations, utilizing different sinking methods.
- Installing sewer and watermain open cut, rehabilitation, and surface restoration operations.
- Working on renewable energy projects (wind and solar).
- Providing constructability design support.
- Coordinating river crossing rehabilitation projects.
###Principal Responsibilities:
-Recordkeeping & Reporting:
-
Maintain a complete record of construction activities on site via daily reports.
-
Post daily reports, photos, and payroll records in DropBox for team access and documentation.
-
Track and record labor, equipment, materials, and services utilized on extra work and obtain Owner’s or General Contractor's signature for payment purposes. -Scheduling & Coordination:
-
Establish, maintain, and update project schedules on-site, coordinating and monitoring activities to meet deadlines.
-
Communicate any schedule impacts to management and make recommendations for solutions.
-
Assist in preparing three-week look-ahead schedules.
-
Coordinate subcontractors, deliveries, and resources in line with project timelines. -Construction & Technical Support:
-
Work closely with the Project Manager and Site Superintendent to plan and execute work in a systematic manner.
-
Review project drawings, specifications, and contracts regularly to ensure up-to-date knowledge of the project.
-
Identify any scope changes or work not part of the contract and inform the Project Manager.
-
Support project Foreman/Superintendent with technical issues and challenges within the scope of the project. -Safety & Compliance:
-
Emphasize safety as a number one value by ensuring that safety policies and safe work methods are implemented on the jobsite.
-
Monitor the site for health and safety compliance, addressing concerns immediately.
-
Maintain site safety records and documentation for compliance with local regulations.
-
Coordinate safety training in collaboration with the Company Safety department. -Subcontractor and Vendor Management:
-
Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure their work is on schedule and meets quality standards.
-
Oversee subcontractor schedules and ensure quality control on their tasks.
-
Obtain quotes and order materials through purchase orders (POs). -Environmental & Regulatory Responsibilities:
-
Immediately stop and correct any safety and environmental violations on-site.
-
Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and environmental standards.
-
Ensure utility stakeouts are arranged and maintain records. -Documentation & Financial Tracking:
-
Record changes in construction for as-built drawings.
-
Compile and track quantities and costs, documenting changes, revisions, and contract modifications.
-
Prepare monthly progress reports for billing purposes, working closely with the Project Manager. -Additional Responsibilities:
-
Maintain professional relationships with owners, engineers, and key stakeholders (local businesses, police, fire departments, etc.).
-
Gather and review daily jobsite reports from foremen and superintendents.
-
Provide input and support for pre-qualification, tender estimates, and development of tunneling procedures.
-
Track productivity and compare actual to expected production factors.
Completion of post secondary in a related field;
Experience coordinating projects within the underground utility and construction industry;
CET or EIT designation is preferred;
Self motivated with demonstrated time management skills;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Demonstrated intermediate skill in Microsoft Suite;
Strong interpersonal skills

Whissell is looking for a Project Coordinator to join our Lethbridge team. The successful candidate will display high attention to detail as they assist the Operations team with various aspects of construction projects.
Core Responsibilities:
Thorough knowledge of the plans and specifications of assigned projects;
Maintain professional relationships with all project stakeholders;
Safety focused, including ensuring that all policies are followed on worksites;
Tracking actual production quantities and costs and reporting them to the Project Manager;
Compile productivity factors from field reporting, compare the actual to expected production factors and report back to Superintendents, Foremen and Project Managers;
Develop, monitor, update and communicate the schedule progress;
Oversee field correspondence/dite documentation to the Owner, Engineers, Subcontractors, Vendors etc.
