About the role
Job Overview:
Reporting to the Lead, Line Protection Programs, the Corrosion Technologist/Engineer plays a key role in safeguarding the integrity of Kingston Midstream’s pipelines and facilities. As a member of the Pipeline Integrity team, this position supports the active management of external corrosion and internal corrosion threats, working closely with integrity engineers, field operations, project teams, and contractors.
Position Responsibilities:
External Corrosion (EC) and Cathodic Protection (CP)
- Monitor, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair CP systems including rectifiers, remote monitoring units (RMU), test stations, bonds, and coupons
- Conduct field based investigations and corrective actions for CP anomalies
- Support CP system upgrades, new installations, and commissioning activities
- Perform quality control and inspection oversight of third party CP contractors
- Support execution of integrity surveys such as Annual Adjustive CP Surveys and Close Interval Surveys
Internal Corrosion & Chemical Programs
- Support internal corrosion monitoring activities including coordinating corrosion coupon pulls, bacteria testing and water testing
- Assist with corrosion inhibitor programs, data review, and field verification
- Support investigation and follow up of internal corrosion related findings
Projects, Integrity & Continuous Improvement
- Provide technical field support for projects, pipeline crossings, and integrity digs
- Support design reviews and technical input related to corrosion control measures
- Resolve corrosion report findings and deficiencies in coordination with Integrity Engineers
- Support development of budgets, forecasts, and long range corrosion program planning
- Contribute to incident response, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives
Working Conditions:
This position is based out of the Esteven field office and requires regular travel between worksites in Southeastern Saskatchewan, and Southwestern Manitoba, with potential occasional travel to Northern Alberta. This is a hybrid position with at least 50% of time spent in the field, and the remainder in the office. Resultantly, there is exposure to outdoor weather conditions, industrial environments, and operational hazards. Occasional on-call or emergency response support may be required outside of regular business hours. A valid Class 5 driver’s license and the ability to lift 50lbs is required.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Technologist Diploma or Engineering degree
- 5+ years work experience in corrosion control, with hands-on experience of CP systems and field investigations
- AMPP (NACE) Cathodic Protection Level 2 or higher certification
- Results oriented problem solver with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships
- Highly organized with effective communication skills both written and verbal
- Familiarity with Mobiltex RMU installation of both hardware and firmware with working knowledge of CorView is preferred
- Additional experience and/or certification with internal corrosion and/or pipeline coatings is considered an asset
