About the role
- Assisting in solving tool & die problems arising during production runs, with the minimum interruption to production.
- Provide a tool & die history by filling in or completing all work forms. i.e.. time sheets, tool status and preventative maintenance reports, spare parts list, perishable tool inventory list, etc.
- Make repairs, modifications, prototypes, engineering changes to existing tools, dies, production parts and fixtures under the guidance of a toolmaker. Ensure timely try-outs to meet production schedule requirements or customers delivery dates. Ensure all work meets high quality standards and includes changes in order to meet the requirements of the "Quick Die Change" program.
- Actively participate in the design and development of methods and tooling and fixtures in order to meet quick die change objectives.
- Be able to build new tooling components or fixtures with supervision from tool & die maker. Also draw detailed die component drawings.
- Ensure compliance to all health & safety rules and housekeeping principles. Take steps to ensure substandard conditions and practices identified in monthly plant safety audits are corrected.
- Participate in and provide expert advice to "Employee Involvement Teams", and occasionally participate on "Problem Solving Teams".
- Advise management of all potential problems or concerns and offer any opportunities for improvement.
- Will work in compliance with IATF16949 standards.
- Implementation and knowledge of SPC procedures as they relate to customer drawings and specifications.
- Perform all other duties as determined by the toolroom lead hand, toolroom manager, Assistant General Manager or General Manager.
- Will maintain due diligence in regard to environmental matters, minimize any potentially harmful
- Will work in compliance with all legislative requirements of the OHSA and will be accountable for specific Health & Safety responsibilities, as outlined under “Safety & Environmental Responsibilities – Office & Production Employees
- Follow all departmental and general procedures where applicable
- Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager and/or Department Manager
- Abide by all company safety rules, responsibilities, policies and procedres including the legislative requirements of the OHSA
- Work in compliance and conform to the Environment and ISO14001 and IATF16949 standards
- Adopt and practice Kaizen principles/ participate in Kaizen and GEAR activities
