In partnership with the First Nations community of Eskasoni, Shannex proudly serves as the operating partner for this ground-breaking initiative. We are searching for an Administrator to join our Kiknu team in Eskasoni, Nova Scotia . This is a meaningful leadership opportunity for someone who wants to serve their community, uplift Elders, and help continue shaping a home that reflects Mi’kmaw ways of being, knowing, and caring.

About The Opportunity We are seeking a compassionate, community-minded, and experienced leader to serve as Administrator for our long-term care home. The Administrator plays a vital role in overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional Elder care, honouring cultural practices, and nurturing a positive and supportive environment for staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the long-term care home
- Ensure compliance with provincial regulations and standards of care
- Foster a culture rooted in respect, dignity, cultural safety, and Elder-centered care
- Manage budgets, staffing, and resource allocation
- Collaborate with families, healthcare providers, community partners, and Elders’ Councils
- Lead quality improvement initiatives
- Promote staff development and retention through mentorship, training, and cultural learning
Qualifications
- An Indigenous Leader from Unama’ki, with preference given to Community Members of Eskasoni Band
- Current Registered Nurse Registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in long-term care, healthcare administration, or relevant managerial experience
- Knowledge of Nova Scotia’s long-term care regulations and standards
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage complex operations, and build strong community relationships
- Solid communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Leadership in Continuing Care Certificate or willingness to obtain
- Proficiency in Mi’kmaw considered a strong asset
- Valid NS Driver’s Licence and access to transportation
- Ability to provide a Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening
