About The Opportunity We are seeking a compassionate, community-minded, and experienced leader to serve as Administrator for our long-term care home. The Administrator plays a vital role in overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional Elder care, honouring cultural practices, and nurturing a positive and supportive environment for staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the long-term care home
• Ensure compliance with provincial regulations and standards of care
• Foster a culture rooted in respect, dignity, cultural safety, and Elder-centered care
• Manage budgets, staffing, and resource allocation
• Collaborate with families, healthcare providers, community partners, and Elders’ Councils
• Lead quality improvement initiatives
• Promote staff development and retention through mentorship, training, and cultural learning

Qualifications

• An Indigenous Leader from Unama’ki, with preference given to Community Members of Eskasoni Band
• Current Registered Nurse Registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses
• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in long-term care, healthcare administration, or relevant managerial experience
• Knowledge of Nova Scotia’s long-term care regulations and standards
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage complex operations, and build strong community relationships
• Solid communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Leadership in Continuing Care Certificate or willingness to obtain
• Proficiency in Mi’kmaw considered a strong asset
• Valid NS Driver’s Licence and access to transportation
• Ability to provide a Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening
