About the role:

Reporting to the Water Compliance Lead, the Coordinator Environment, Water Compliance is responsible for the coordination of projects and the ongoing management and compliance of regional and local permits associated with general permit compliance. The position requires a broad base of scientific knowledge, technical skills, and environmental project management experience. This is a minimum one-year temporary position.

To be successful, we are looking for someone with strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, who can coordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives; someone who has strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making abilities. We require someone who is self-motivated and passionate, who thrives in a fast-paced team environment.

In this role you will have the opportunity to work on site at our Line Creek Operation, with a portion of your time spent in the field. This is a great opportunity to collaborate with departments across the site, as well as our centralized and dispersed Environmental teams. In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Coordinate and provide technical direction for multiple, broad based sampling and monitoring programs
  • Coordinate quality control protocols for testing materials compliance to environmental procedures
  • Coach, mentor and supervise a team of environmental technicians
  • Supervise and manage multiple contractors to ensure work is being conducted safely and in accordance with the project scope
  • Communicate and manage data in a clear and understandable format suitable for intended audiences to advise mine operations, permitting, and water management to gain resolution of any issues or challenges
  • Understand applicable permits, management plans, and associated requirements
  • Coordinate and supervise various environmental projects such as; maintenance of pollution control infrastructure or programs, and field sampling programs
  • Develop and review Environmental Protection Work Plans
  • Analyze field and analytical data to prepare various professional reports and applications for submission internally and to government agencies
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance reporting

Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in engineering or environmental science, or other related subject area
  • Minimum three years demonstrated ability in the field of environmental compliance or monitoring, in an industrial environment
  • Experience with environmental data management software (GIS/EQuIS) and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite®
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental and waste legislation, standards, and effective industry practices
  • Experience supervising or leading a team
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent

Salary: $88,320 / year

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
