Role Description The Piping Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB, responsible for developing detailed piping designs and layouts for industrial facilities. Day-to-day tasks include creating and revising piping drawings and isometrics, coordinating plant layout with other disciplines, and preparing bills of materials using CAD tools. The role involves working closely with engineers and project teams to ensure designs meet safety, code, and client requirements, while optimizing constructability and maintenance access. The Piping Designer will participate in design reviews, support field queries during construction, and maintain accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
Experience with Piping Design and Piping systems for industrial or energy-related facilities. Knowledge of Plant Layout and integration of piping with structural, mechanical, and electrical components. Proficiency in CADWorx software piping and plant design. Familiarity with Gas Plant design or similar process facilities, codes, and industry standards. Diploma engineering design and drafting technology field, or equivalent experience. Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, equipment datasheets, and engineering specifications. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams. Experience with 3D modeling tools and field support during construction is an asset.
