The Healthcare Human Resources Branch of the Ministry of Health serves the health care sector, including the Ministry, in the areas of health workforce planning and policy, agency support, strategic initiatives and advice, nursing policy, and labour relations.

The Governance, Training, Strategic Planning and Stakeholders Relations Unit has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, proactive, and results-oriented individual with exceptional leadership and analytical skills.

The position will focus on partnerships across government and the healthcare sectors in the development strategies to support the healthcare human resource need in the province. You will also be required to provide research, analysis, support, and advice on a range of health care issues and policy development. This will include developing briefing materials, supporting the development of Cabinet Decision, and other related documents. You will be required to provide advice and recommendations, facilitate group discussions and consultations, as well as work proactively with sector stakeholders.

You will work with our stakeholders to gather data, assess health human resource needs, identify solutions and strategies for ensuring critical health human resources are available. In addition, you will answer information requests on a variety of topics related to health human resources.

The individual will be expected to work with other stakeholders; and identify new opportunities to address key training concerns.

The position will focus on identifying best practices, innovative ideas, and tracking existing training strategies. Working with key industry employers the individual will develop or adapt policy, proactively identify opportunities or concerns, and provide analysis that will guide future strategies.

To join this challenging, innovative, and supportive working environment, the successful candidate will have knowledge of health policy issues, public policy development, research and data analysis, and an understanding of government structures and decision-making processes. Knowledge of general workforce planning would be an asset. Knowledge of training strategies would also be considered an asset.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would have been gained through completion of a degree in social science, health administration or a related discipline, along with experience in public policy development.
