Job Description
BerQ RNG is seeking a CORE Manager – Central Operations Response & Escalation to lead our Central Operations Response & Escalation (CORE) function. Reporting to the Director of Reliability, you'll establish and lead a centralized operations monitoring team that provides visibility, coordination, escalation, and reporting across BerQ RNG's renewable natural gas facilities. This is a unique opportunity to help build and mature a critical operational function that supports reliability across our growing portfolio of facilities. Working closely with Operations, Reliability, Engineering, Maintenance, Safety, Environmental, Commercial, and other cross-functional teams, you'll establish standardized monitoring and escalation practices while ensuring operational issues are identified, communicated, and routed to the appropriate owners. This hybrid position is based in Burlington, Ontario, with an expectation of working in the office approximately three days per week. Periodic travel to BerQ RNG operating facilities throughout Canada and the United States, along with occasional on-call support during significant operational events, will be required.
Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day operation of the CORE function, including team leadership, staffing, scheduling, and shift handovers. Build and continuously improve the CORE function by establishing standardized monitoring, escalation, reporting, and operational governance practices. Recruit, coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of CORE Operators. Monitor operational performance across BerQ RNG facilities, ensuring events are appropriately prioritized, documented, and escalated. Coordinate operational issue escalation and follow-up across Operations, Reliability, Maintenance, Engineering, Safety, Environmental, Commercial, and other functional teams. Serve as the central coordination point during abnormal operating conditions, multi-site events, and significant operational issues. Collaborate with SCADA, AVEVA PI, CMMS, and reporting teams to improve operational visibility, data quality, and reporting capabilities. Develop CORE KPIs and provide leadership with visibility into fleet-wide performance, operational risks, recurring issues, and escalation trends. Support incident investigations, root cause analyses, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives. Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Technology, or a related technical discipline is preferred. Minimum seven (7) years of experience in industrial operations, reliability, process engineering, centralized operations, remote monitoring, or a related technical environment. Experience working in a control room, centralized operations centre, dispatch environment, or multi-site operational support function is considered an asset. Experience with SCADA systems, industrial control systems, historians, CMMS platforms, dashboards, or operational reporting tools. Knowledge of industrial operations, alarm management, operational risk assessment, and escalation processes. Strong leadership, communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams. Experience in renewable natural gas, biogas, renewable energy, utilities, wastewater, oil and gas, agriculture, chemical processing, or industrial manufacturing is considered an asset. Valid driver's licence and the ability to travel periodically throughout Canada and the United States.
