POSITION SUMMARY: The Coordinator of the Human Performance Laboratory (HPL) fills a critical role at CMCC, overseeing and integrating the operational, technical, research, and developmental functions of both the HPL and the Force Sensing Table Technology (FSTT®) program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate the HPL’s data collection schedule.
-
Collect data for research studies in HPL.
-
Process and analyze study data collected in the HPL using commercial or custom software.
-
Provide guidance to faculty and student investigators regarding data collection, as well as support investigators on experimental design, lab setup, equipment use and data collection techniques.
-
Design and construct custom apparatuses for research studies as needed.
-
Provide investigators with summaries of processed data, based on investigator requests and results of consultations between the coordinator and the investigators.
-
Maintain inventory of HPL supplies/materials and equipment.
-
Ensure proper functioning of all equipment, troubleshooting and repairing defective equipment to the best of their ability.
-
Maintain a safe and efficient mechanical workshop environment.
-
Lead the management and development of the FSTT® program, including the maintenance, enhancement, and support of Human Analog Mannequins (HAM®), and the integration of new sensor technologies and software features.
-
Provide technical support, sales, and marketing for FSTT® and HAM® products.
-
Develop, monitor, and update content on FSTT® webpages.
-
Coordinate the purchasing of hardware and materials to fulfil FSTT® and HAM® orders.
-
Develop and distribute FSTT® software updates to customers, addressing customer-specific requests related to software features and functionality.
-
Collaborate with Academic and Leadership teams to incorporate FSTT® and HAM® technologies into CMCC’s curriculum and research initiatives.
-
Offer periodic updates on program activities, research developments, and technological advancements to the Director of Human Performance Research and the Executive Leadership Team.

Troubleshoot and fix hardware and software issues related to FSTT® and HAM® units used in education and research at CMCC.

Implement new FSTT® software features

Maintain knowledge of new sensor technologies and explores utility for FSTT®.
-
Continually enhances knowledge in biomechanics by reading published journal articles, completing relevant courses, and attending conferences/tradeshows.

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Academic
-
Master’s of Science in Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Biomechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or other related discipline
-Skills & Knowledge
-
At least 3 years of experience designing, coordinating, and conducting biomechanics data collections from human participants. Can include time as a senior undergraduate and graduate student.
-
Deep understanding of principles of biophysical instrumentation and data acquisition (e.g., electromyography, force plates, load cells, motion capture).
-
Aptitude to source, design, prototype, and test sensors and/or mechanisms to solve research needs.
-
Proficient with programming languages (e.g., Matlab, Python, R) and software packages (e.g., Visual3D, MS Office, OpenSim) to process and analyze collected data.
-
Experience working with computer aided design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Sketchup) to produce engineering drawings and 3D model files is desired.
-
Knowledge of principles of research ethics and responsible conduct of research.
-
Knowledge and experience with computational mechanics/biomechanics.
-
Experience working with electrical circuits, fabrication/shop equipment, and 3D printing.

Strong business acumen, including sales and marketing.
-
Entrepreneurial spirit with experience in product design and development.

Use of data-driven business tools for analysis.

Excellent critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to organize and coordinate activities/schedule and facilities from multiple users and projects.
