About the role

Don't want a full-time job right now? Skilled skid steer/plow truck operator and love winter weather? This role could be for you.

This a PART Time job with no set hours. Applicants should have a flexible enough schedule to be available for every snow event.

On-call snow crew members typically work 40-50 hours a month, and must be available for every snow event, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays. They receive a small amount standby pay for being available, plus a retention bonus for completing the whole season.

What you'd be responsible for in this role

  • Safely and efficiently clearing parking lots using a plow truck and/or skid steer

  • Safely and efficiently clearing sidewalks using an articulated, closed cabin sweeper

  • Upholding the company’s 90% positive review ratings

  • Following the company’s safety standards

YOU’D BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU:

  • Live near Okotoks or South Calgary for an easy commute in winter weather

  • Want part-time work with irregular hours

  • Have solid skid steer operating experience

  • Can handle early morning shifts (5 AM starts), including weekends and holidays

  • Have experience with outdoor, physical work.

ROLE DETAILS:

  • On-call from November to April

  • Clear parking lots using a skid steer and/or plow truck

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physically fit and ready to work in tough conditions

  • Snow removal experience is a plus, but not required

Term:

December until mid-April with potential to transition to spring/summer landscape construction work in April

Hours:

Due to the nature of winter snow events and contract requirements, hours can vary shift to shift. Position includes early morning and weekend hours. To be considered, applicants must be willing and available to be on-call for the full snow season (November – April).

Working conditions

  • Extended periods of operating equipment, and other physically demanding conditions

  • Hazards associated with conducting work outdoors

  • Lifting, moving, or manipulating heavy objects

  • Operation and use of necessary tools, machinery, or equipment

  • Regular exposure to conditions including heat, humidity, and dust

  • Repetitive work

  • Use of required personal protective equipment

  • Exposure to high noise levels

Minimum requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in wide variety of weather conditions
  • 1 year experience as snowplow operator or equipment operator
  • Ability to operate truck and trailer for hauling equipment to site
  • Ability to complete routine tasks without supervision
  • Ability to follow verbal directions and job specifications
  • Able to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights and weekends
  • Available for the full season
