About the role

Architectural Designer

Intermediate Level | Vaughan, Ontario | Hybrid

About RN Design

RN Design is an award-winning design firm specializing in Ontario’s residential development industry. Based in Vaughan with easy access to transit and major highways, we are a growing team that takes our craft — and our people — seriously.

We don’t just grow great employees. We grow great people.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an intermediate-level Architectural Designer to bring skill, creativity, and client focus to our growing team. This is a role for a designer who has moved beyond the basics — someone who takes ownership of projects, communicates confidently with clients, and brings both technical accuracy and design sensibility to every file they touch.

If you have a minimum of 5 years of experience in low-rise residential design, a proven ability to build strong client relationships, and the drive to deliver exceptional results, we want to hear from you.

Our Culture & Values

Our values are not just words on a page — we live them every day:

  • Integrity

  • Ingenuity

  • Commitment

  • Contributions

  • Fun

From the people we recruit to our long-term team members, we love to create, collaborate, and express ourselves.

Responsibilities

  • Lead conceptual design development for low-rise residential projects, from initial brief through to client approval

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients — listening closely to their needs, interpreting their vision, and translating it into compelling design solutions

  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based client relationships through consistent communication, proactive updates, and attentive follow-through

  • Manage multiple active projects simultaneously, keeping timelines on track and flagging issues to Senior Management early

  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers to ensure design concepts are accurately developed into complete working drawings

  • Prepare and manage contract documentation including municipal approvals, drawing reviews, and site visits

Skills & Experience Required

  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Architectural Technology, Architectural Design, or a related discipline

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in low-rise residential architectural design

  • Demonstrated experience working directly with clients — understanding, interpreting, and responding to client needs and preferences

  • Strong working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code (OBC); BCIN designation is a significant asset

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office Suite

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting design concepts to clients

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills — able to handle competing priorities with accuracy and composure

  • High standard of quality and meticulous attention to detail, even under limited supervision

  • Adaptable, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Perks & Benefits

  • Hybrid work model — 2-3 days in our Vaughan office, the rest remote

  • Monday to Thursday 8:00am–5:30pm; Fridays 8:00am–12:00pm (all year, with exceptions)

  • Comprehensive benefits plan

  • Office closure during the December holiday season

  • Ongoing mentorship and professional development support

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience

  • Relaxed, casual dress code with fresh fruit, tea, and coffee in-office

  • Inclusive and diverse workplace culture

  • Easy access to transit and major highways

How to Apply

We are hiring for attitude, drive, and people skills — not just a checklist of experience. We would love to read a short explanation of why you are the right fit for this role. Please submit your resume and portfolio for review.
