Purpose** The Chief Engineer leads a multi-disciplinary team of technical staff at the Hoyle Pond site.
The Following Positions Report To The Chief Mine Engineer
- Mine Engineering Supervisor /Senior Mine Engineer – Short-Term Planning
- Surveying Discipline
- Scheduling Discipline
Accountable for the delivery of realistic and reliable mining plans by managing all production geology and mine engineering activities at the mine site, for safe work methods and procedures for all members of the department, for the pursuit of continuous improvement opportunities of mine operations and for the management of site specific technical services workforce and budget.
Responsibilities
- Design, implementation and review of applicable systems, standards and procedures to manage all Mine Engineering function.
- Reporting of performance statistics for monthly and quarterly business needs
- Integrate geotechnical guidance into mining plan.
Short-Term Planning
- Scheduling and tracking of all relevant mining activities for 0-12 months.
- Planning and design of all relevant mining activities including drill and blast, mine scheduling, mine ventilation, mine backfill and power distribution.
- Operations progress and Spatial Compliance tracking
- Surveying, Field inspections and Mine reconciliation
Long-Term Planning
- Collaboration with Medium and Long-term Planning group related to preparation of annual Mine Reserves and Life-Of-Mine planning of mine operations
- Ensure mining plan includes all applicable infrastructure to comply with local regulations and deliver on business objectives.
- Support annual strategic business planning process and capital works planning
Training and Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering, equivalent discipline related experience for the position.
- 10-15 years’ experience in Mine Engineering,
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role with exposure to senior supervisory roles and duties.
- Must have Professional Engineering Designation
- Able to read engineering plans with a good understanding of ground control, mine planning and geology
- Good knowledge of narrow vein and long-hole mining techniques.
- Good working knowledge of underground mining procedures and maintenance requirements.
- Strong communication skills.
- Good financial knowledge and skills.
- High learning agility.
- Ability to collaborate with mine operations teams
