Manual Lathe Machinist
About the role
We're looking for an experienced Manual Lathe Machinist who learned the trade before everything became CNC. Someone who knows their way around engine lathes, works confidently from blueprints, and takes pride in producing quality work with precision and craftsmanship. If you're the kind of machinist who still reaches for a micrometer instead of guessing, enjoys problem-solving, and believes every thousandth matters, we'd like to talk.
What You'll Do Set up and operate manual lathes Machine shafts, bushings, sleeves, pins, and custom components to tight tolerances Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints Select tooling, speeds, and feeds based on material and job requirements Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and other measuring equipment Inspect finished parts to ensure quality and accuracy Repair, modify, and manufacture one-off and small-batch components Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

What We're Looking For Several years of experience operating manual lathe Strong blueprint reading skill Excellent understanding of machining practices, tolerances, and fit Experience machining a variety of materials including steel, stainless steel Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision Mechanical aptitude and a craftsman's mindset Ability to troubleshoot setups and think through challenging job
