Position Summary:

The Psychological Trauma and Stress Systems (PTSS) lab is a team located at the University of Regina within the Faculty of Arts. The PTSS lab is led by Dr. R. Nicholas Carleton, a clinical psychologist and expert of psychological trauma in Canadian public safety personnel (PSP). The PTSS lab team is dedicated to helping PSP thrive and backed by clinicians, researchers, and operational staff who provide evidence-informed lifesaving solutions to reduce the impacts of trauma and stress.

Reporting to the PTSS Lab Operations Manager, the Research Associate will support the Emotional Resilience Skills Training (ERST) project and other projects within the PTSS lab. This will include responsibility for ERST delivery coordination, ERST facilitation, ERST materials feedback, participant data management, data collection and analysis (both quantitative and qualitative), and writing for both academic and public audiences. This role will work closely with the PTSS Lab’s leadership team to manage ERST program delivery and coordination.

As part of the position, the Research Associate will be working together with the lab leadership team in any of these following activities:
a) Survey development – conduct interviews with project’s interested parties, design and tailor surveys, and disseminate surveys for data collection.

b) Data collection, analysis, synthesis, and interpretation. Preparing presentations and publications as well as lay summaries for knowledge translation.

c) Assist with grant and proposal development.

d) Support knowledge translation activities.

e) Help direct graduate students and other staff in completing analysis and research tasks

Supervision and training will be provided.

Some remote work may be available for this position.

Position Requirements

Position Requirements: A graduate degree (Master’s or PhD) in Social Work, Education, Educational Psychology, Counselling Psychology or Clinical Psychology or other relevant field.

In addition, the following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:

  • Theoretical knowledge, as well as experience with collecting and analyzing quantitative or qualitative data;
  • Demonstrated experience with peer-reviewed research from conceptualization through to publication;
  • Knowledge of mental health, psychological trauma, and psychological trauma-informed practices;
  • Experience with research design;
  • Advanced computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, web page management, social media);
  • Experience with SPSS and reference management;
  • Experience with qualitative or quantitative analysis preferred;
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a team;
  • Ability to work independently; and,
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Considered assets for this position are:

  • Previous experience working with public safety personnel;
  • Previous experience managing training programs;
  • Previous experience developing and/or managing course content updates;
  • Project management skills;
  • Previous experience scheduling, coordinating, and delivering training programs;
  • Experience with participant interviewing;
  • Research management skills;
  • Experience with dissemination of research (e.g., presentations, preparation of manuscripts); and,
  • Knowledge and experience with psychological trauma, depression, anxiety, ethics, and assessment.

Physical Demands Pay Grade As Per CUPE 5791 Research Salary Range $60,000 - $75,000 annually depending on experience and qualifications Status Term Work Hours

This position will be full-time (Monday to Friday), 40 hours a week until March 31, 2027 with the possibility of extension dependent on funding.
