In the role of Advisory Lead, you will play an important role in growing our local Advisory team while contributing to the delivery of high-quality client outcomes. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will provide trusted advice and support across a range of complex infrastructure projects. The role involves mentoring and developing team members and delivering strategic advisory services across public and private sector mandates, including business cases and economics, alternative procurement strategies, due diligence, climate and sustainability, and asset management for major infrastructure programs.  

You will play a key role in shaping and growing our Advisory offering in Alberta, combining strong analytical capability with commercial acumen, risk-based thinking, and executive-level communication skills to influence decision-making at the highest levels of client organizations.   

As an Advisory Lead, you will integrate our Alberta Advisory team within our Canadian, North American and global Advisory network, strengthening collaboration and ensuring the delivery of high-value advisory services that complement our engineering and project management expertise.   

This role offers the opportunity to lead across multiple focus areas, with the flexibility to leverage your expertise and shape both project delivery and strategic direction. 

 

Key responsibilities include

Lead the development and delivery of Advisory services, with a focus on alternative procurement strategies for major infrastructure clients 

Act as a trusted advisor to public sector clients, providing strategic guidance on procurement and capital program delivery 

Lead the development and review of complex procurement documentation, including P3, CMGC, and Progressive Design-Build models 

Direct and oversee structured decision-making, options analysis, and business case development 

Champion climate resilience and sustainability advisory services, guiding strategy, assessments, and implementation 

Provide leadership on risk management, ensuring robust identification, mitigation, and governance across mandates 

Lead, mentor, and develop team members, fostering a high-performance and growth-oriented environment 

Hold accountability for quality assurance, including review and approval of key deliverables and project audits 

Lead the preparation of proposals and actively contribute to winning new work and growing the Advisory practice 

Own commercial performance, including budget oversight, financial management, and reporting 

Drive collaboration across regional and global teams, contributing to broader business initiatives and strategy 

 

Qualifications, skills, and experience

 

Post-secondary degree with 15+ years of experience, including significant leadership responsibility in infrastructure advisory, engineering, or project delivery 

Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing complex client relationships 

Deep expertise in infrastructure procurement and delivery models across multiple sectors (e.g., transportation, built environment, water, energy) 

Strong track record in project management, including commercial and financial oversight 

Advanced knowledge of risk management principles and their application in major programs 

Excellent executive communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders 

Proven ability to operate independently, make strategic decisions, and drive outcomes 

Collaborative leadership style with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset

 

  At Mott MacDonald, our employees have a stake and a voice in our business, providing them with a direct connection to our success through our personal and group performance bonuses.     Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.     The expected salary range for this position is from $155,000 - $190,000.  This posting is for an existing vacancy.
