The Marine Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sales performance across the Canadian marine sector, focusing on new builds, retrofits, lifecycle services, and agreements. This role will join an existing team and contribute to expanding market presence, building strong customer relationships, and supporting the strategic growth of Wärtsilä’s marine solutions.

The position is ideally based in Quebec or Ontario, with flexibility for remote work if outside office locations. If the candidate resides within 60 km of an office location, the position will follow a hybrid model requiring two days per week in the office

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy & Execution: Lead and execute full-cycle sales processes for marine products, from prospecting to deal closure, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer expectations.

  • Market Development: Identify and capitalize on growth opportunities within the marine industry. Develop and implement strategic sales plans to penetrate new markets and expand existing accounts.

  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain long-term relationships with key marine clients, understanding their operational needs and offering customized product solutions that drive value and loyalty.

  • Industry & Market Intelligence: Analyse marine market trends, customer data, and competitive activity to inform sales strategies and identify areas for innovation and improvement.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with product development, marketing, and operations teams to ensure seamless delivery of solutions and alignment with broader business objectives.

  • Leadership & Mentorship: Lead sales initiatives and mentor junior sales team members, fostering a high-performance culture and sharing best practices across the team.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a marine product expert, providing insights to customers and internal stakeholders, and influencing product positioning and go-to-market strategies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Maritime Studies, or equivalent experience.

  • Ideally 10 years of sales experience, in B2B sales within the marine sector.

  • Strong understanding of marine industry dynamics, customer needs, and regulatory environment

  • Knowledge of the Canadian marine industry.

  • French language skills are an advantage but not mandatory.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to analyse data and trends to drive informed decision-making.

  • Candidates must be willing and able to travel at least 40% of their time, including customer visits, industry events, and cross-border business meetings.

  • Candidates must be legally eligible to travel to the United States for business purposes.
