About This Role As the Lead of SAP Security Management, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence across SAP security functions. This includes managing user access, ensuring compliance, and leading strategic initiatives that extend beyond provisioning, such as vulnerability management, automation, and onboarding of new applications. You will lead a high-performing team and collaborate closely with Identity & Access Management (IAM), Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC), and Capacity Services teams to deliver secure, scalable, and efficient SAP security operations.
Your role will consist of
Operational Excellence & Performance Management
- Lead daily SAP security operations, ensuring timely resolution of incidents, service requests, and access issues.
- Develop and maintain performance metrics and dashboards to monitor SLA adherence and drive continuous improvement.
- Create and manage an intake process to streamline request handling and maintain a manageable backlog.
- Build and maintain a strong relationship with the Capacity Services team to align resource planning and service delivery.
Access Control & Compliance
- Oversee user provisioning, de-provisioning, and periodic access reviews across SAP environments.
- Ensure role-based access control (RBAC) and segregation of duties (SoD) are properly enforced.
- Collaborate with the IAM team to design and implement sustainable, position-based security models across SAP platforms.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory frameworks (e.g., SOX, GDPR, HIPAA) and internal audit requirements.
Strategic Planning & Automation
- Define and execute a roadmap for SAP Security that includes automation to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance security posture and operational maturity.
- Promote ongoing education and readiness to support onboarding of new SAP applications and technologies.
SAP Vulnerability Management & Security Controls
- Lead SAP vulnerability management efforts, including patch coordination, risk assessments, and remediation tracking.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to ensure secure configurations and timely resolution of findings.
- Integrate security controls into SAP upgrades, implementations, and cloud migrations.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and mentor a team of SAP security professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
- Conduct performance evaluations, set development goals, and lead training initiatives to build team capabilities.
Governance, GRC Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with the GRC team to manage rulesets, process controls, and project handoffs.
- Develop and maintain SAP security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Act as the primary liaison for SAP security matters with internal stakeholders, auditors, and leadership.
- Communicate risks, initiatives, and performance metrics to senior management and other key stakeholders.
Your Training, Skills, And Experience Checklist Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or related field.
- SAP Certifications in security, access control, process control, and cloud identity are highly valued
Experience
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in SAP Security, with a focus on operational excellence, access governance, and strategic enablement across complex SAP landscapes.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with business and IT teams, translating security requirements into actionable solutions that align with operational goals and compliance needs.
- Experience in managing security across multiply SAP platforms including S/4HANA, BPC, SuccessFactors, Ariba, Concur, Fieldglass, and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
- Strong understanding of SAP Identity Authentication Services (IAS) and SAP Identity Provisioning Services (IPS), with practical experience implementing cloud identity access governance models.
- Familiarity with SAP Cloud Identity Access Governance (IAG) and its integration with SAP and non-SAP systems for cross-application SoD and access management.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement holistic, position-based security across SAP environments, ensuring scalable and sustainable access control.
- Understanding of SAP vulnerability management, including how to leverage platforms like Onapsis to monitor, assess, and remediate SAP-specific risks.
- Experience leading SAP security operations, developing automation strategies, managing intake processes, and supporting onboarding of new applications.
- Experience collaborating with GRC Access Control and GRC Process Control teams to manage rulesets, enforce process controls, and support audit readiness.
Working Conditions
Ability to travel to domestic and international mine or exploration sites where conditions vary Must be legally able to work in a designated country or qualify for a work visa where required Proficiency in English required; second language (Spanish, French, Dutch) an asset.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $126,480 - 166,005. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
