We are looking for a Charge Nurse to work with our Perioperative (Pre-Op, Day Surgery, Operating Room, PACU) Department to help us continue in our mission to serve our community with Kindness, Accountability, Respect, and Teamwork.
Position Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will perform the duties expected of a Charge Nurse within the Perioperative (Pre-Op, Day Surgery, Operating Room, PACU) Department.
The Perioperative Charge Nurse is a leadership role with accountabilities and responsibilities for coordinating and organizing the daily operation of the Perioperative nursing care unit, including Pre-op, Day Surgery, Operating Room, Recovery Room and Endoscopy. The Charge Nurse ensures evidence-based, safe, and consistent patient care services are delivered on a daily basis, according to the Standards of Nursing Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario, and approved standards of care of the Corporation.
Qualifications:

Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
-
BScN preferred, minimum completion of Diploma in Nursing
-
Minimum 5 years’ recent Operating Room experience
-
Completion of Perioperative Nursing Program required (from C.N.A preferred)
-
Completion of the Perianesthesia Nursing Course required
-
Current BCLS certification required
-
Current ACLS certification required
-
Current PALS certification required
-
Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation Course required (completion preferred, or proof of completion within two (2) months of hire)
-
Ability to provide on-call coverage as part of a regular on-call rotation required
-
Previous leadership experience preferred
-
Working knowledge of Day Surgery, PACU, Endoscopy and MDRD including ORNAC, NAPANc & CSA standards; recent experience in PACU, Endoscopy and Day Surgery preferred
-
Ability to function completely as a surgical team member in either the scrub or circulating role involving all services including recovery room
-
Demonstrates effective leadership behaviours including the ability to guide and develop others
-
Ability to work in fast-paced environment
-
Ability to interact well with patients and families and respond to concerns

Ability to organize and prioritize patient care activities with flexibility and adaptability to change

Effective interpersonal and organizational abilities to promote teamwork with physicians and staff

Excellent conflict resolution, multitasking, critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning

Experience in staff scheduling and knowledge of iSchedule is an asset

Hiring Salary Range: $44.36 - $61.80
