Infrastructure Systems Analyst (Infrastructure)

The Infrastructure Systems Analyst 3 (Infrastructure Focused) is a senior technical specialist role that requires deep hands-on technical expertise across virtualization, Windows Server, storage, backup, and enterprise networking, including the ability to troubleshoot and implement changes across server, firewall, switching, VLAN, and wireless environments.
Key Responsibilities Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise infrastructure platforms, including servers, virtualization, storage, and cloud environments. Act as a senior escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents impacting clinical and operational services. Provide expert advisory services related to infrastructure architecture, lifecycle planning, and resiliency. Provide senior technical guidance, mentorship, and escalation support to infrastructure, service desk, security, and network team members. Support vendor coordination, support escalations, renewals, licensing reviews, and infrastructure lifecycle planning. Collaborate with network specialists to ensure infrastructure solutions are secure, performant, and well-integrated. Define and support enterprise infrastructure standards, strategic roadmaps, and future state planning. Support initiatives related to cloud migration, data centre modernization, automation, and disaster recovery. Ensure infrastructure services meet security, compliance, and availability requirements. Produce and maintain accurate technical documentation and provide clear guidance to leadership and stakeholders. Participate in after‑hours support and on‑call rotation as required. Perform intermediate to advanced network administration tasks, including switch port configuration, VLAN assignments, trunk/access port changes, routing verification, firewall rule changes, and network connectivity troubleshooting.
Qualifications College diploma or university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Minimum 5 years of progressive enterprise IT experience with a focus on networking in complex, multi-site environments. Advanced hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, certificate services, patching, hardening, and server lifecycle management. Advanced hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, including ESXi, vCenter, clustering, storage connectivity, virtual networking, performance troubleshooting, and upgrade/patch management. Solid understanding of enterprise networking concepts (LAN/WAN, firewalls, routing, and connectivity). Ability to independently analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of Azure and M365 Services including various admin centers and their functions Strong experience with enterprise backup and recovery systems, including troubleshooting failed backups, performing restores, validating backup integrity, and supporting disaster recovery testing. Strong understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, including VLANs, trunking, routing, subnetting, switching, firewall rules, NAT, DHCP, DNS, and network troubleshooting. Working knowledge of enterprise wireless network topology, including SSIDs, access points, controllers/cloud-managed Wi-Fi, roaming, RF coverage concepts, authentication, and VLAN integration.
Preferred: Knowledge of SIEM tools, threat detection, and Cybersecurity best practices Strong understanding and working experience with various monitoring tools (Zabbix, Solarwinds, Others) Experience supporting HPE Nimble storage or comparable enterprise SAN/NAS platforms.
Certifications: (Required or Strongly preferred) Microsoft, VMware, or cloud‑platform certifications (Azure preferred). Networking certification (e.g., CCNA) is considered an asset. CISSP, Security+, or other cybersecurity certifications are considered assets.
Language Requirements English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, comprehension, reading and writing. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset

- The Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health - the fundraising organization that supports mental health research, capital projects and equipment purchases on behalf of the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group.
