ABOUT THE ROLE Cuso International’s Engagement team carries the critical responsibilities of fundraising, communications and marketing. Together we share compelling stories and updates about our flagship program, SHARE, as well as other projects to raise awareness around our initiatives, engage our volunteers through recruitment and remaining connected with alumni while also raising funds through our generous donors from across Canada. How we engage our audiences is ever-changing and it is not easy to be heard in today’s information overload world. Our team is dedicated to innovative strategies that embrace calculated risks to ensure our messages are heard, understood and create meaningful impact.
The Marketing & Communications (MarComm) Manager is an exciting and dynamic new role within Cuso International. Under the direction of the Director of Engagement and working in collaboration with other members of Engagement Team, this person leads a small but dynamic team responsible for developing and executing comprehensive MarComm strategies and products to support the success of Cuso programs and ongoing engagement with Alumni networks. Working collaboration with internal stakeholders, this role will also manage strategies and initiatives related to Cuso corporate communications and overall visibility, volunteer program awareness, and ensuring content is engaging across diverse audiences.
This role requires fluency in French and English, demonstrated experience in managing multi-channel communications, experience working traditional and emerging media outlets, a management approach which fosters creativity, as well as a passion international development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES In consultation with internal stakeholders, develop and MarComm strategies which support Cuso’s programs as well as sharing program impact with participants, supporters, and other external stakeholders. Develop and manage overall Cuso corporate communications strategy to increase visibility and brand recognition across diverse audiences. Support the ongoing engagement and stewardship of Cuso’s Alumni network towards building lasting relationships within SHARE program. Develop strategies and manage implementation of multi-channel MarComm strategies which align with Cuso’s mission, values and goals. In consultation with internal stakeholders, develop a suite of tools and processes that facilitate quality content generation and sharing of innovation. Manage a suite of resources and processes which ensure collaboration, consistent messaging and branding across all communications products and platforms (both in Canada as well as in-country offices) Liaise closely with internal stakeholders coordinate messaging to audiences, support the development of audience journeys, and support their strategy and objectives. Work with SHARE team members to plan and develop content promoting the SHARE programs as well as support SHARE Public Engagement strategies via marketing and communications. Manage internal content and product requests such as marketing materials, brochures, newsletters, annual reports, social media graphics, and digital ads. Ensure MarComms products are effectively communicating key information which is both relevant and accessible to the intended audiences. Ensure Cuso external comms are on brand, highest quality, and meet relevant accessibility standards. Provide direction on digital marketing efforts, including website management, SEO, SEM, and social media in both languages. Coordinate and execute events, including fundraisers, community outreach programs, and awareness campaigns (as assigned). Support comprehensive email marketing strategies, including campaign planning, content creation, campaign scheduling, segmentation, A/B testing, and performance analysis, to enhance engagement of Canadian Audiences. Utilize data analytics tools to produce monthly MarComms performance reports for senior leadership, highlighting key performance indicators and develop recommendations for improved engagement, reach, and paid advertising to reach program or organizational goals. Write, edit and or translate content for various marketing materials and platforms, maintaining a consistent and appropriate tone for each audience. Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, community partners, and stakeholders to enhance our outreach efforts. Stay current with marketing trends, tools, and best practices, incorporating innovative approaches into our strategies. Manages budget for MarComms team, relationships with vendors, and monitors cost effectiveness of MarComms initiatives based on key objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field or the equivalent in working experience. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in marketing, preferably within the nonprofit sector. Fluency in French and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages. Knowledge/experience of fundraising and donor relations. Familiarity with of graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva). Strong understanding of digital marketing, including social media, email marketing, SEM and SEO. Proven ability to develop and implement successful multi-channel marketing campaigns. Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience managing a creative team working on interna Strong understanding of web design and UX principles. Experience monitoring and evaluating digital analytics. Creative thinker with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics. Experience managing departmental budgets and vendor relationships. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team. Passion for international development and Cuso’s mission with a commitment to making a positive impact. Prior experience working with CRM (Customer Relationship Management) such as Raisers Edge , CMS (Content Management Systems), as well as WordPress or Web Content Management Systems. Extremely comfortable/knowledgeable in executing email marketing using an email marketing tool.
