Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
To collect, load, and transport clothing and donations in the operations of the Foodbank and the Thrift Stores, practicing good stewardship of our donated resources.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Safe and careful handling of all donations and deliveries.
- Pickup and drop off of food donations and other donations as required.
- Be responsible for overall safety, maintenance and operation of vehicle on driving days.
- Provide courteous and diplomatic service
- Load/unload goods at warehouse and other destinations
- May Participate in maintaining the cleanliness of the buildings, including snow removal, garbage removal
- Performs other duties as assigned

MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY:
- Reports directly to: Executive Director
- Direct reports for this position: None
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
- Work truck/vehicle
- Position does not deal with financial resources
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Fast paced work environment
- May require long hours
- Loud/Noisy
- Pressure with timelines/deadlines
- Moving/lifting heavy objects/boxes
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
- Completion of High School (an alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable)
- The successful candidate must have 3 months prior experience, including life skills
- Background check consent.
- A clear vulnerable sector screening.
- A clean drivers abstract.
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- A valid BC class “5” license with appropriate certification and proof of a clean drivers abstract
- The successful applicant must have, or be willing to obtain, a criminal record check, clearance from the National Abuse Registry and be bondable
Skills and Capabilities:
- Respect and understanding of The Salvation Army – its mission, culture, and values.
- Excellent customer/donor service ethics including the ability to deal with the public in a friendly manner
- A proven ability to work in a team setting as well as a willingness to take personal initiatives
- The ability to adapt to change and interruptions to a normal work routine, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality.
- A willingness to adhere to a dress code of modesty, neatness, and cleanliness
- Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.
- Excellent organizational abilities.
- Great communication and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and problem solving skills.
- Self-motivated, disciplined, and adaptable.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $17.85 to $20.64 with a maximum of $24.77.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
