The Role
The Saltwater Asset Management Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate, up‑to‑date information for all saltwater assets within the company’s asset management and maintenance software platform. This role serves as the primary link between farming operations and centralized asset records, ensuring assets are properly identified, tagged, tracked, and managed throughout their lifecycle.
This position also serves as the operational and technical lead for the asset management/maintenance software system and is responsible for system configuration, data quality, and operational support. In addition, the role is responsible for the physical asset tagging and QR program and contributes to the development and execution of saltwater asset management strategies.
Responsibilities:
Asset System Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the asset management and maintenance software platform relating to saltwater operations.
- Manage asset-related system configuration, including asset structures, naming conventions, fields, and hierarchies.
- Ensure asset data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across all modules of the system.
- Troubleshoot and resolve asset data or system-related issues, coordinating with internal IT or software vendors as needed.
- Support users by providing guidance and best practices related to asset entry, updates, and system use.
- Manage the entry of asset records in the asset maintenance database, including asset location, condition, status, and identifying details.
Asset Tagging & QR Program
- Own and manage the physical asset tagging and QR code program for saltwater assets.
- Ensure all applicable saltwater assets are properly tagged, labeled, and linked to records in the maintenance software.
- Coordinate tagging efforts with site staff for new assets, replacements, repairs, and asset retirements.
- Monitor tag durability and replacement requirements in harsh marine environments.
Saltwater Asset Management Strategy
- Support the development and implementation of asset management strategies specific to saltwater operations.
- Identify gaps or inefficiencies in asset tracking, tagging, or data quality and recommend improvements.
- Assist in standardizing asset identification, naming conventions, and tracking processes across farming sites.
Collaboration & Communication
- Act as a primary point of contact between farming operations, maintenance teams, and management for asset-related information.
- Provide guidance to operations staff on asset identification, tagging standards, and data update requirements.
- Support audits, inspections, and asset verification activities as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- University degree or diploma in a related field such as engineering, information systems, operations, or asset management.
- Experience working with asset management systems, maintenance databases, CMMS, or EAM software.
- Strong data management skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate effectively with field-based farming operations and maintenance teams.
- Experience managing or supporting physical asset tagging, labeling, or QR code programs.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across facilities or sites.
- Self‑motivated and comfortable working independently while coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience in aquaculture, marine operations, industrial maintenance, or infrastructure asset management is considered an asset.
