Where You’ll Add Value

The Senior Accountant, Consolidations is accountable to the Assistant Controller, Corporate Services for corporate accounting and reporting functions for Morguard. This includes providing accurate and timely financial information as required by management, including the preparation and completion of Morguard’s consolidated financial statements and MD&A.

How You’ll Make a Difference

1. Consolidation Process

  • Monitoring month end and quarter end close and roll up process for all the divisions.
  • Preparation and monitoring of monthly and quarterly reporting timeline.
  • Responsible for determining and recording elimination entries in consolidation workbook.
  • Managing and overseeing working paper support process for notes to consolidated financial statements.

2. Preparation of Consolidated Financial Statements and MD&A

  • Assist in the preparation of MRC consolidated financial statements and MD&A, and managing/updating financial statements for review comments.
  • Assist in the preparation of note disclosure process, which includes communicating timelines with staff and monitoring that the process along with timelines are being adhered to.

3. Non-Consolidation Process

Responsible for determining and recording elimination entries in non-consolidation workbook

b. Managing and overseeing working paper support process for notes to non-consolidated financial statements

4. Preparation of Non-Consolidated Financial Statements/Package

  • Assist in the preparation of MRC non-consolidated financial statements
  • Assist in the preparation of note disclosure process, which includes communicating timelines with staff and monitoring that the process along with timelines
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly non-consolidated reporting package as required

5. Quarterly/Annual Audit

  • Responsible for co-ordinating and managing the delivery of all working papers and supporting documents to facilitate the completion of external audit
  • Responsible for monitoring the status of all audit related requests and queries

6. Management reporting

  • Responsible for the preparation of various management reporting for key industry metrics including NOI and financial instruments.

The Expertise You’ll Bring

(Qualifications Required here)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Commerce or equivalent.
  • A CPA designation.
  • Minimum 3 years of direct experience in Corporate accounting and reporting process experience in sophisticated business setting.
  • Demonstrated track record of creating and implementing strategic change and innovation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of related compliance and security regulations, requirements and standards.
  • Proven record of successful project and change management at the organizational level.
  • Excellent computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, etc.)
  • Good knowledge of accounting software (preferably YARDI 7).

  • Real Estate industry experience preferred.
