Project Manager - ERP Implementation (9 Month Contract)

Role at a Glance
We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager – ERP Implementation to lead the rollout of a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system designed to improve project management, financial reporting, resource planning, and firm-wide operations. This role will be critical in aligning the ERP solution with the unique needs of an architecture and engineering (A&E) practice, ensuring smooth integration with project delivery workflows, time and expense tracking, billing, and compliance requirements.
What You Will Do
Project Leadership & Strategy
- Develop, manage, and oversee the ERP implementation roadmap, ensuring alignment with firm objectives and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with leadership to define project scope, success criteria, KPIs, and business outcomes specific to A&E project delivery.
- Coordinate internal project teams, consultants, and ERP vendors to ensure seamless execution.
ERP Implementation & Delivery
- Lead the ERP system implementation lifecycle: requirements gathering, system design, configuration, data migration, testing, training, deployment, and stabilization.
- Ensure ERP supports A&E-specific functions such as project budgeting, resource utilization, subconsultant management, and compliance with client contracts.
- Oversee integration with existing tools (project scheduling software, BIM platforms, HR/payroll systems, etc.).
- Monitor risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on ongoing client projects.
Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management
- Partner with leaders in operations, finance, project management, HR, and IT to gather requirements and ensure ERP functionality meets business needs.
- Serve as the primary communication channel between ERP vendors, consultants, and firm leadership.
- Champion organizational change management by driving adoption, developing training programs, and communicating the benefits of the ERP system to staff.
- Facilitate steering committees, workshops, and user testing sessions to gather feedback and promote buy-in.
Operational Excellence
- Establish data governance standards to ensure accuracy, consistency, and security of project and financial data.
- Develop and deliver regular project status updates, dashboards, and executive reports.
- Support post-implementation optimization, troubleshooting, and process improvement initiatives.
What You Bring to the Table
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
- Change Management certification an asset.
Experience
- 7+ years of project management experience with at least 3 years leading ERP implementations in professional services, architecture, engineering, or construction firms.
- Deep understanding of A&E industry operations including project lifecycle, billing methods (lump sum, hourly, % of construction), and resource management.
- Hands-on experience with ERP platforms relevant to A&E firms (e.g., Deltek Vision & Vantagepoint, BST Global, Unanet, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP).
- Advanced knowledge of SaaS platforms and API frameworks in system integrations.
- Demonstrated success in managing cross-functional teams and third-party vendors.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership, facilitation, and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business terms.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Smartsheet, Asana, Jira, or similar).
- Ability to manage competing priorities and drive change in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
Key Competencies for Success in an A&E Firm
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with how A&E firms deliver projects, track time, and manage subconsultants.
- Process Orientation: Ability to streamline workflows across design, engineering, finance, and HR functions.
