About the role
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Assistant Financial Controller to contribute to accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. This individual will bring strong expertise in financial analysis, internal controls, and ERP systems to support strategic decision-making and ensure fiscal integrity
This is an in-office full-time position working Monday to Friday at our corporate head office located in Regina, SK.
Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership: Prepare monthly and annual financial statements for Thyssen Mining and its joint ventures/subsidiaries, delivering clear, actionable insights for internal and external stakeholders.

Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with site teams and senior management to review forecasts, analyze results, and proactively address project variances and financial challenges.

Business Analysis and Revenue Management: Issue accurate monthly invoices for services, rentals, and back charges, ensuring timely and precise billing. Assist in reviewing project invoices and contractual billing arrangements for accuracy and completeness.

Tax Compliance: Prepare and file reports for state and provincial tax authorities, ensuring compliance and timely remittance of payments.

Jurisdictional Expertise: Research and advise on sales & use tax obligations for new operational regions, staying ahead of legislative changes and audit requirements.

Cash Flow & Banking: Monitor cash flow, banking activities and reconciliations, long term debt and other liabilities, review and monitor to maintain optimal financial health.

Audit Support: Assist with external and internal audits, providing thorough documentation and prompt responses to inquiries.

Continuous Improvement: Stay current with corporate safety and cybersecurity training, and test internal control processes to ensure compliance.

Professional Development: Remain up to date with evolving accounting standards, financial regulations, and industry best practices.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field, plus a recognized professional designation.

Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance.

Strong command of accounting standards and advanced proficiency in financial software, ideally including Microsoft 365 and Business Central.

Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proven ability to analyze complex financial data and present findings using tools like Power BI.

Skilled at managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

High attention to detail and accuracy.

Experience with Microsoft Fabric and Power Apps is an asset.
