What You’ll Be Responsible For
Reporting to our senior leadership and collaborating closely with various teams, your responsibilities will include:

Providing technical leadership and support to a design team of 10+ members

Reviewing complex pole line designs, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring compliance with utility standards

Supporting project execution by guiding the team through deadlines, deliverables, and technical accuracy

Developing internal training and documentation of best practices and design standards

Ensuring delivery of high-quality pole line designs aligned with client requirements and timelines
-
Identifying process improvements and implementing efficient workflows to enhance team performance
What Success Looks Like
Within your first 12–18 months, you’ll be:

Leading technical quality reviews of pole line designs to ensure compliance with utility standards

Mentoring team members and supporting their professional development in technical areas

Establishing and documenting design standards and best practices for the team
-
Guiding the team through complex technical challenges while maintaining project timelines
-
Driving continuous improvement in design processes and methodologies
What We're Looking For
-
Technical Expertise: 5+ years of experience in utility pole line design with background in engineering, powerline work, telecommunications, or utility construction
-
Educational Background: P.Eng or working toward it; experience with telecom pole design and cross-training in both electrical utilities and telecommunications preferred

Technical Proficiency: Solid knowledge of Western Canada utility design standards; hands-on expertise with AutoCAD and tools like SpidaCalc, PLS-CADD, QuickPole

Leadership Experience: Prior experience in a team lead, PM, or formal management role with ability to mentor and develop team members

Client Relations: Comfortable managing timelines, budgets, and client relationships with strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders

Problem-Solving Abilities: Proactive and independent with ability to troubleshoot both people and project issues while implementing process improvements

Adaptability: Ability to lead by example and work efficiently on projects with changing priorities while maintaining quality standards
