Description Part-Time Driving Instructor Are you a natural teacher with a passion for safety and mentoring? Do you enjoy interacting with people and being on the move rather stuck behind a desk? If so, this may be the opportunity for you.

Pacific Western Transportation is seeking a part-time Driving Instructor to join our team in Edmonton. This role plays a key part in delivering Alberta’s Class 2 and Class 2-S programs and other in-house training initiatives.

While this is a part-time position, there may be periods of full-time hours depending on operational needs. Hours are not guaranteed, and out-of-town travel is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and document classroom and in-vehicle training sessions for new drivers, including retraining as needed
  • Ensure compliance with provincial requirements for Class 2 training
  • Complete and maintain all licensing documentation to established standards
  • Conduct pre-employment check rides and assist with driver selection
  • Perform annual evaluations and post-collision assessments
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure consistency in training delivery
  • Support curriculum development and improvement

Qualifications And Experience

  • Must have a current, valid Instructor License
  • Must hold a Class 1 or Class 2 driver’s license with an S endorsement for a minimum of 3 years
  • Must have recent driving experience with a Class 2 vehicle within the last 3 to 5 years
  • Must have a clean driver’s abstract, with no outstanding fines, account balances, or restrictions on motor vehicle record
  • Experience in classroom instruction, behind the wheel training, and adult learning methodologies
  • Familiarity with Alberta Transportation’s curriculum and regulations
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial transportation legislation
  • Strong communication, mentorship, and customer service skills
  • Proven leadership capabilities and ability to thrive in dynamic, tech-driven environments
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Air Brake endorsement is an asset, but not mandatory (training may be provided)
