As we look to grow, we are excited to add a new role to the Finance & Accounting team!

Reporting into the Corporate Controller, the Financial Accountant will drive month-end and year-end close, ensure compliant financials and support preparation of ASPE-compliant financials, support AR/AP operations, and act as an ERP (Acumatica) and Website (BigCommerce) power user. In a fast-growing, market-expanding environment, you’ll bring rigor to close processes, strengthen controls, support grants, and assist financial analysis and broader team as needed.
Located in the heart of West Lincoln, this role will report to office 3-4 days per week and work the balance from home. This role is eligible for Group Insurance Benefits, Company Performance Bonus, Discounted Pet Food, Staff Events, and more!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
- Own the month-end and year-end close (journals, accruals, prepaids, revenue/cost recognition, intercompany where relevant).
- Maintain and review balance sheet reconciliations (including cash, AR, AP, payroll liabilities, deferred revenue, fixed assets, and capital expenditure reconciliations).
- Prepare ASPE-compliant financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow); maintain close calendar and deliver to deadlines.
- Prepare monthly reporting packages: variance analysis, trend insights, KPIs, and commentary for leadership and budget owners.
- Support company annual budget process.
- Maintain accounting policies; strengthen internal controls suitable for a growing company.
AR/AP & Cash Cycle Support
- Partner with AR and AP to ensure accurate cut off, AP batch payment runs, vendor onboarding, and payment controls; review aging and exceptions.
- Support credit/collections policies and customer billing accuracy (where applicable).
- Support internal audit process, and development.
ERP / Website
- Serve as Finance ERP (Acumatica) and Website (BigCommerce) SME: master data governance and system integration between Acumatica and BigCommerce, posting rules, period controls.
- End to end support for sales and purchase cycles, including receiving, order errors and corrections.
- Finance lead for version upgrades, new modules, processes, integration, and automation including User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Build and maintain reporting templates and dashboards; ensure a clean audit trail.
Other
- New markets: Support entity setups, bank accounts, intercompany flows, FX, etc.
- Grants: Partner with key business stakeholders to support grant applications, including preparing submissions, document gathering, ensure compliant reporting, and reconcile grant-related revenue/expenses.
- Support Corporate Controller and Director of Finance, as needed
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Knowledge of all relevant Federal & Provincial requirements as they relate to finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost accounting principles including ASPE.
- Hands-on month-end close ownership and preparation of reconciliations.
- Experience supporting AR/AP and AP payment runs with strong control orientation.
- ERP proficiency and advanced Excel; comfort with pivot tables, lookups, and reconciliations at scale.
- Experience in high-growth environments, manufacturing and processing and/or international expansion preferred.
- Team player.
- Strong sense of ownership & bias for action, detail orientation, problem-solving, systems thinking, stakeholder communication, and discretion with sensitive financial data.
