Title: Energy and Environment Business Process Lead

Position Overview:
The energy and environment business process lead (BPL) leads their building services energy and environment category to drive continuous improvement for various energy initiatives including, but not limited to lighting, HVAC, generators, EV chargers and utility management. They are responsible for satisfying both store service levels and comfort, while maintaining energy efficiency and supporting our sustainability goals. They will support both internal and external business reviews to drive action, change and accountability. They are also responsible for the creation and management both capital and expense work orders, and the vendor compliance and execution of the work.

Key Responsibilities:

Actionable Deliverable

  • Oversees all aspects of service providers (SPs) within their category focusing on escalations, average days to resolve, feedback scores and service channel compliance
  • Develop, maintain and grow service provider relationships
  • Hold SPs accountable by providing immediate and corrective feedback to improve performance
  • Lead consistent business reviews with SPs to drive service levels and performance
  • Perform site inspections, building audits and energy analysis to identify opportunities with respect to HVAC and Lighting
  • Create and streamline work orders for SPs while managing category budget for capital and expense
  • Analyze energy trends to identify opportunities for comfort, lighting or energy consumption
  • Prepare feasibility studies, cost estimates, pay-back calculations and recommendations for innovative solutions

Skills:

  • Intermediate level of knowledge of energy using systems (lighting systems, plumbing and HVAC) and energy savings measures and technologies for retail commercial or industrial applications.

  • Intermediate level of knowledge of energy analysis, modeling and reporting.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience with energy analysis software, is considered an asset.

  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Microsoft Excel in particular

  • Must demonstrate the ability to take initiative and motivate self and others to set and achieve high performance standards.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to interface effectively and collaborate professionally with associates, management and project personnel to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in.

  • Project management and technical aptitude and analytical skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills; multi-tasking abilities; experience in building partnerships; conflict resolution; effective time and work management, benchmarking, supplier management; performance measurement monitoring.

  • Organized; professional; self-starter; team focused; persuasive; customer service oriented.

Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

Travel Requirements:

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in mechanical, electrical, systems engineering or sustainability, with a strong background in commercial, institutional or industrial energy use, as applicable, and energy management.

Minimum Years of Work Experience:

  • Must meet minimum time-in-position (1 year) and performance management code requirements

  • 3+ years of experience supporting and implementing energy efficiency projects and analysis for industrial and commercial buildings is preferred.

Minimum Leadership Experience:

  • n/a

Certifications:

  • Designated as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) or Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP) or obtain designation within one (1) year of the start date.

Other Requirements/Assets:

  • Store operations experience

  • Project Management experience
