We are seeking a Continuous Improvement Coordinator to join our team. Please note that this position is based in Labrador West. This position is not eligible for Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) arrangements. The work schedule is Monday-Friday.

Position Summary:

The Continuous Improvement (CI) Coordinator is responsible for driving operational excellence across all areas of the facility. This role focuses on identifying, developing, and implementing improvement initiatives that enhance safety, reliability, efficiency, and cost performance. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the CI Coordinator will apply lean methodologies, root cause analysis, and data-driven decision-making to sustain long-term performance improvements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead, facilitate, and support continuous improvement projects focused on safety, productivity, quality, and cost reduction.
  • Apply lean, Six Sigma, and problem-solving tools to eliminate waste, reduce downtime, and improve process efficiency.
  • Monitor and analyze operational data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support departments in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and process documentation.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementation for repeat failures and chronic issues.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by coaching frontline staff, supervisors, and managers in CI tools and techniques.
  • Develop and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure progress of initiatives and sustain improvements.
  • Assist with change management activities to ensure adoption and sustainability of new processes and practices.
  • Collaborate with all departments to align improvement projects with organizational goals.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate project outcomes and performance results to leadership.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Operations Management, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in heavy industry (mining, steel, oil & gas, pulp & paper, or manufacturing).
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies (certification preferred).
  • Experience facilitating RCA (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, TapRooT, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills to engage all levels of the workforce.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cultural change and foster employee engagement in CI initiatives.
