Job Details

The City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Recreation and Parks department as a Head Lifeguard. Reporting to the Aquatics Operations Coordinator, this position will be responsible for ensuring execution of day-to-day facility operations at Servus Place Water Play Centre, including indirect oversight of casual staff while also providing support through administrative duties.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a High School Diploma combined with 2 years of lifeguarding experience.
  • One year of supervisory experience is required.
  • Knowledge of provincial guidelines and regulations related to health and safety in aquatic environments.
  • Holds the following awards: National Lifeguard, Aquatic Emergency Care (AEC) or recognized Standard First Aid aware, Oxygen Administration and Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
  • Pool Operator 1 is required; Pool Operator 2 is an asset.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Prior experience using Intellileisure software is an asset.

Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.

Hours of Work

  • We offer a compressed bi-weekly work schedule of 72 hours, Tuesday - Saturday, with a biweekly regular day off (RDO).
  • Shifts will fall between the hours of 6:15 a.m. – 8:00 and will include morning, evening, weekday and weekends.
  • You will be required to participate in an on-call schedule rotation and be available on evenings and weekends to provide support and troubleshooting in case of emergency or to meet operational requirements.

Compensation

  • The salary ranges from $58,387- $69,738 per year including a comprehensive benefits package and accrued paid vacation starting at 3 weeks per year.
  • Candidates not meeting the full qualifications may be considered for a development opportunity at a lower classification and salary.
