We are seeking a skilled R&D Machinist to join our innovative engineering team at Tesla. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams of engineers, machinists, and technicians to machine high-precision components for cutting-edge technologies. As part of our dynamic R&D environment, each day brings unique challenges and opportunities. This position offers the chance to utilize top-tier equipment and collaborate with a team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of manufacturing and engineering.

What You'll Do

  • Set up and operate various CNC and manual grinding machines

  • Manage the full process from drawing review to completed parts, including programming, tooling orders, machine setup, manual measurements, and adjustments based on CMM data

  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering teams to develop machining processes for complex components

  • Program components for machines using conversational programming practices

  • Maintain machine tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance

  • Implement 5S methodology (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain) to drive continuous improvement in the lab workspace

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to maintain a safe and efficient work environment

What You'll Bring

  • Red Seal certification preferred or equivalent experience

  • Experience in abrasive CNC and manual grinding processes

  • Experience in precision gear/thread machining considered an asset

  • Proficiency in working with tight tolerances in metric units (microns)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

  • Solid understanding of GD&T as per ASME Y14.5
