Missions/Main Duties
As a Human Factors Specialist, you will contribute to the successful delivery of rail, transit, and telecommunications systems projects by supporting the integration of human factors principles throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients to deliver high-quality, practical solutions in line with recognized industry standards.
Developing and maintaining Human Factors processes, methodologies, and documentation for rail and transit projects. Supporting the full delivery of Human Factors assignments for clients, including scope definition, cost estimating, proposal support, planning, and execution. Delivering Human Factors services that meet quality expectations, project schedules, budgets, and client requirements. Building strong working relationships across technical disciplines and internal teams to promote effective integration of Human Factors in project delivery. Providing expert Human Factors support to the rail industry, with a focus on usability, ergonomics, accessibility, and the interaction between people and systems. Collaborating with Systems Assurance, verification and validation, and requirements management teams in the delivery of mass transit, urban rail, and freight rail systems. Identifying opportunities to expand Human Factors services and support business growth with existing and prospective clients. Contributing to clear and proactive client communication throughout project delivery.
Profile/Skills
Education: Degree in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Applied Psychology, or another relevant discipline is required.
Professional certification in Human Factors and Ergonomics, such as CCPE, BCPE, or CIEHF, is considered a strong asset.
Years of experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience applying Human Factors standards and practices is required. Experience working within engineering project teams and/or in railway systems and their human interfaces is considered highly desirable.
Technical Competencies
Candidates should demonstrate knowledge and practical experience in the following areas:
Application of Human Factors standards, principles, and methods. Human Factors Engineering across the full spectrum of ergonomics, usability, and accessibility. Development of technical documentation and Human Factors deliverables. Support for project planning, delivery, and coordination in multidisciplinary engineering environments. Contribution to systems-oriented projects involving rail transit, urban rail, or freight rail systems. Ability to work effectively alongside teams involved in systems assurance, verification and validation, and requirements management. Clear verbal and written communication skills, both in French and in English* Reasons for requiring bilingualism: You will have the opportunity to work with a varied clientele, including both French- and English-speaking companies. Bilingualism is therefore fundamental to building strong relationships with our customers, understanding their specific needs, communicating effectively in their preferred language and facilitating strategic meetings.
