About the role
Mount Sinai Hospital’s Orthopaedic Oncology (11 South) unit offers Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) an opportunity to develop competencies in caring for patients across a range of medical conditions, enhancing your ability to provide comprehensive care and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams. Benefit from our Magnet®-designated hospital environment that champions professional development and innovation in medical practices.
About this unit: Located at Mount Sinai Hospital, this is a 30-bed unit providing comprehensive care for orthopedic oncology and trauma patients. Six beds are allocated to the inpatient administration of chemotherapy to our sarcoma population. Patients are cared for by expert oncology nurses and the allied healthcare team throughout the trajectory of their hospitalization.
The orthopedic trauma population consists of patients who have suffered a fracture. These patients undergo the necessary surgical treatment for their fractures and receive professional and individualized care from the interdisciplinary team throughout their recovery.
In this role you will:
- Provide direct patient and family centered care for Orthopaedic Oncology patients
- Complete physical assessments on patients
- Provide direct patient care in accordance to the CNO standards and Sinai Health's policy and procedures

- Apply a broad range of nursing skills and procedures including (but not exclusive to) CADD pumps, chest tubes, nephrostomy tubes, complex wounds, central lines, enteral feeding tubes, TPN, CIWA monitoring, managing a Code Blues, and chemotherapy
