What can you expect from this position?

Reporting to the Executive Director, Customer and Commercial Development the Director, Commercial - Pearson LIFT (Long-Term Investments in Facilities & Terminals) will serve as the single point of contact representing the Commercial Development Department in a major infrastructure redevelopment project, Pearson LIFT at Toronto Pearson Airport.

The Director will serve as the primary Commercial liaison between stakeholders (internal and external), facilitates and ensures effective and efficient discussion and communication, coordination, and resolution of key issues and/or concerns related to LIFT, as well as corporate strategic initiatives (i.e., Vision plan, etc.) with possible future capital program impacts.

As a member of the SPOC Cabinet, the Director will provide 360° views of the Commercial department as it relates to activities impacting LIFT as well as the LIFT program itself with the intention of driving alignment between the Commercial department and the LIFT Program. (The Pearson LIFT SPOC Cabinet has been created as the interface between departments and program delivery, gathering input and fostering collaboration and transparency across the organization. The Cabinet comprises Single Points of Contact (SPOCs) from each department, facilitating information flow, feedback, and decision making.) The Director will operate in the capacity of facilitating critical sign offs and active participation in discussions and updates. SPOC plays a critical role in minimizing project delays and ensuring alignment between delivery and stakeholder expectations.

As Director, Commercial Pearson LIFT, you will:

  • Serve as the trusted commercial representative on the SPOC Cabinet, managing two-way communication between the Commercial Department and the Pearson LIFT program, acting as the voice of Commercial into the LIFT program.
  • Advocate for commercial priorities within broader infrastructure designs, effectively influencing program stakeholders to align with department needs and standards.
  • Integrate commercial considerations into all phases of the Pearson LIFT program, from initial planning and design through to construction and commissioning.
  • Leverage internal subject matter expertise to conduct technical reviews of program documentation, ensuring alignment with commercial requirements and best practices.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to program design, specifications, and schedules, providing strategic guidance to protect departmental interests.
  • Lead internal briefings, townhalls, and senior leadership meetings to translate program complexities into actionable business requirements and milestones.
  • Proactively identify new commercialization opportunities enabled by infrastructure changes, including concessions, parking, real estate, and digital partnerships.
  • Build and unify a high-performing team by setting purposeful goals, removing obstacles, and fostering a collaborative environment dedicated to the LIFT program’s success.

This is the role for you, if you have:

  • A university degree in Engineering, Aviation, or Business (a Master’s in Project or Construction Management is preferred).
  • 10+ years of leadership experience, specifically within an airport environment and through large-scale capital redevelopment programs.
  • Extensive expertise in commercial airport operations, including Parking, Ground Transportation, Real Estate, Concessions, and new business development.
  • A proven track record of leading terminal development and expansion projects within complex, large-scale infrastructure environments.
  • Advanced communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and present to executive leadership and Board-level audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on challenging the status quo and navigating high-pressure decision-making.
  • Deep knowledge of commercial best practices, airport/airline business processes, and industry-specific regulatory standards.
  • The ability to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance.
