Bridge & Boardwalk Construction Foreman

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Bridge & Boardwalk Construction Foreman to lead field crews in the construction of pedestrian bridges, elevated boardwalks, and related trail infrastructure. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing daily site operations, maintaining safety standards, ensuring quality workmanship, and delivering projects on schedule.

The ideal candidate is a strong field leader with structural carpentry experience, a deep understanding of outdoor construction environments, and the ability to manage crews effectively in remote or challenging terrain.

Key Responsibilities

Crew Leadership & Supervision Lead and supervise field crews during bridge and boardwalk construction projects while maintaining productivity, safety, and quality standards Plan & Drawing Interpretation Interpret construction plans, specifications, and engineering drawings to guide field crews and ensure accurate project execution Project Coordination Coordinate daily tasks, materials, equipment, and labor resources to maintain workflow and project schedules Structural Construction Oversight Perform and oversee structural layout, framing, pile installation, decking, railing systems, and other infrastructure components Safety & Environmental Compliance Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company quality expectations on all job sites Remote Site Productivity Maintain efficient project progress while working in remote or environmentally sensitive locations Client & Project Communication Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, engineers, and inspectors to coordinate project requirements and site progress Crew Training & Mentorship Train and mentor crew members to maintain high workmanship standards and promote skill development within the team Construction Documentation & Reporting Document project progress, site conditions, safety concerns, and daily field updates for project records Project Management Tools Utilize project management and field reporting software to track tasks, schedules, and project updates

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in heavy timber construction, bridge building, boardwalk construction, or similar structural carpentry Proven leadership experience supervising field crews on active construction projects Experience leading construction crews in remote, outdoor, or environmentally sensitive environments Strong understanding of structural framing and construction best practices Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and technical specifications Experience operating construction equipment such as mini-excavators, skid steers, telehandlers, or similar machinery Knowledge of working in environmentally sensitive areas or protected landscapes Ability to coordinate crews, materials, and equipment to maintain project schedules Ability to communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and field crews OSHA certification preferred Valid driver’s license required

Preferred Qualifications

Two to five years of experience in trail construction, outdoor infrastructure, or related construction fields Experience with carpentry, timber construction, or rock work Chainsaw certifications Wilderness First Aid or Standard First Aid Experience operating small equipment or working around heavy machinery Experience working on public lands (e.g., National or State Parks) Familiarity with erosion control, water mitigation, and environmental best practices Welding or fabrication experience GIS, cartography, photography, or field documentation skills CDL License

Lead by example with a strong work ethic and professionalism in demanding field environments Maintain high standards of craftsmanship and attention to detail across all aspects of the project Demonstrate strong problem-solving and decision-making in dynamic job site conditions Foster a safe, organized, and productive work environment for all crew members Communicate clearly with crew members, project managers, and project stakeholders Maintain efficiency and morale while working in remote or physically demanding environments Respect the natural environment and maintain responsible construction practices in protected landscapes

Compensation & Benefits

Monday through Thursday work schedule
