About Peel Addiction Assessment & Referral Centre (PAARC):

PAARC is a notable not-for-profit charitable organization funded by the Ministry of Health, through Ontario Health Central Region. About the role:

As the Senior Human Resources Generalist , you will be acting as the primary advisor to the Executive Director and Leadership team on employee related matters such as employee relations, employment law, recruitment, organizational development, HR policies and compliance. Working as a standalone HR professional, you will have the knowledge and experience to handle a variety of people related challenges and help shape current and future HR strategy and programs.

We are hiring for one (1) full-time, permanent role working at our main office on Dixie Road.

What you'll do:

Operations

  • Act as a primary resource for the Executive Director and Leadership team on employee relations matters - including navigating complex or sensitive issues with organizational or legal implications, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and ensuring matters are handled with professionalism and care.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance concerns, ensuring consistency with policies and PAARC values.
  • Full cycle recruitment for all positions, including job postings, screening, applicant tracking, interview coordination, conducting interviews, reference checks and input into final candidate selection.
  • In consultation with the Management team, plan and organize quarterly all staff day and other employee engagement events as required.
  • Coordinate onboarding activities including new hire orientations.
  • Liaise with employees regarding benefits programs, including group insurance, group RRSPs, and return-to-work programs (LTD, WSIB claims, LOA).
  • Work closely with payroll to assist with payroll processing as necessary.
  • Administer PAARC compensation and total rewards programs (i.e. Annual increases, Employee referral incentive programs, service anniversary awards etc).

Strategy

  • Align HR strategies with PAARC’s mission, vision, values, short- and long-term goals, and strategic direction.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify workforce needs and develop effective staffing and training plans to meet operational/program requirements.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to staying current on industry trends, innovation, and best practices that enhance HR processes and the employee experience.
  • Participate and/or chair internal committees (i.e. HR and EDI), teams, and activities related to organizational effectiveness, as required.
  • Lead the review, development, implementation, and internal communication of HR policies and programs as required.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong background in employee relations, including conflict resolution and negotiation.
  • Proven experience implementing performance management and appraisal systems and providing constructive feedback.
  • Strategic and analytical thinker able to align HR initiatives with organizational goals and quality objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting, onboarding, and retaining staff in a resource-constrained environment.
  • Proven ability to lead talent management and succession planning initiatives.
  • Experience designing and/or administering compensation structures, employee benefits, RRSP, and wellness programs within budget limitations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust, credibility, and strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Commitment to principles of equity, diversity, accessibility, inclusion, Indigenization and human rights for equity deserving groups. Respects diversity, equity and promotes inclusion in the workplace.
  • Exceptional business acumen with a focus on financial and budgeting awareness. Knowledge of not for profit funding sources and grant cycles is an asset.

  • Experience working with HRIS, ATS and in a Microsoft Office environment.

Requirements:

  • Post secondary education (College, University, Graduate school) in Human Resources, Business, Psychology or related discipline.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) required. Possessing the Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) is an asset.
  • At least 5 years of total experience in a human resources management role, of which at least 3 years in a HR Generalist (employee relations focused), Business Partner or Manager role.
  • Must have at least 2 years experience working as a standalone Human Resources professional.
  • Experience working in the not for profit, healthcare, and social services sector is an asset.
  • Experience in supervision or management of staff an asset.
  • A Criminal Records Check/Vulnerable Sector Screening is mandatory for all clinical positions at PAARC.

Working Conditions:

  • In-Office setting - Dixie location. May be required to attend meetings at other PAARC office locations or at community partner sites.
  • 35-hour work week; Mon - Fri 8:30 am- 4:30 pm. Occasionally will be scheduled from 12:30 pm – 8:00 pm on certain designated days (typically Wednesdays) to support PAARC’s group programs. From time to time, you may be required to work outside of this schedule to support work related events, program needs, or organizational requirements.

The pay range for this role is:

70,000 - 85,000 CAD per year (Dixie Road)
