The Indirect Sourcing Coordinator is an individual contributor responsible for analyzing indirect spend and supplier data, turning insights into actionable information to support business decisions.
This role manages the onboarding and commercialization of new indirect suppliers, coordinates legal screens and agreement processing, and supports the Indirect Procurement team and related business partners.
The coordinator is a key partner in ensuring adherence to procurement policy, leveraging shared services expertise to optimize negotiations, and maintaining compliance and efficiency in indirect purchasing strategies.
The Indirect Sourcing Coordinator will work on a hybrid schedule, spending three days per week in-person at either our Flatirons Corporate Office in Louisville, CO, or our Landmark Corporate Office in Edmonton, AB.
What a typical day looks like?
- Coordinate commercialization activities for new suppliers, including agreement documentation, legal screens, and NDA processing, ensuring alignment with business needs and compliance requirements.
- Support compliance initiatives, including document storage, audit preparation, and policy updates.
- Analyze indirect spend, supplier performance, and data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Transform business data into actionable insights for procurement and for business partners including tracking KPIs to report on performance.
- Prepare regular reports and dashboards to support decision-making.
- Serve as a key partner to the Indirect Procurement team and related business units.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Leverage Mars Commercial expertise to optimize negotiations and commercial terms.
- Improve operation efficiency through analysis using AI solutions.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance procurement efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support implementation of new procurement systems and tools.
- Oversee contract database maintenance and order management processes.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of purchase orders and supplier agreements.
- Monitor supplier risk and performance, escalating issues as needed.
- Support business continuity planning related to indirect suppliers.
- Assist in capturing and reporting value leadership projections and actualizations.
- Establish and maintain departmental procedures and practices to ensure efficient operation and continuous improvement.
- Create, evaluate, and award RFP events, including drafting and managing the process.
- Perform other job duties or tasks, as required.
What we are looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–5 years’ experience in Purchasing, Indirect Procurement, or Production Management.
- SCMP designation or equivalent certification considered an asset.
- Familiarity with Supply Chain Management (SCM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Contract management systems.
- Demonstrated understanding of supply chain theory, contract management, logistics concepts, and procurement compliance.
- Proven analytical and mathematical skills.
- Professionalism, and a positive, forward-thinking attitude.
- Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and ambiguous environment.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, technical procedures, and regulations.
- Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Proficient in presenting information and responding to questions from managers, suppliers, and employees.
- Ability to build and sustain successful internal and external working relationships.
- Self-directed with strong time management and project planning skills.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Proficient in MS Office applications; project management skills preferred.
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations; physical inspection of company property as needed.
- Willingness to travel and work extended hours, including weekends, as required.
