##Position Summary
Part-Time Academic position
The School of Health & Life Sciences is seeking qualified professionals to join the Bachelor of Applied Biotechnology team to teach the following course part-time from May 2026 to August 2026.
- Research Capstone
Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. Conestoga offers classes Monday through Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., both in person and online. This course is six hours per week in the classroom for a 14-week term.
Applications will be provided to the hiring team weekly. Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
##Responsibilities
- Ensure student awareness of course objectives, instructional approach, and evaluation systems
- Carry out regularly scheduled instruction according to the format prescribed for the course, including, as appropriate, classroom, laboratory, shop, field, seminar, computer-assisted, individualized learning, and other instructional techniques
- Tutor and provide academic counselling of students in assigned groups
- Evaluate student progress/achievement, assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the students’ work within the assigned course and maintain records as required
- Consult with the Professor responsible for the courses of instruction on the effectiveness of the instruction in attaining the stated program objectives
- Contribute to procurement and control of instructional supplies and maintenance of instructional equipment
- Create and maintain a positive learning environment which supports the diversity of students’ cultures, educational backgrounds, and learning styles
- Work in a collaborative, collegial manner both within the department and across the college
##Qualifications
- A diploma in Chemical Laboratory Technician or a related degree in the chemistry field is required; a master’s degree is preferred
- Minimum two years of related wet chemistry laboratory experience is required
- Experience with the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of analytical instruments, such as PCR, flow cytometry, microscopy, spectroscopy, and chromatography, is preferred
- Teaching experience in adult or post-secondary education is considered an asset
- Experience with computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and educational technologies (e.g., D2L) is preferred
- Demonstrated exceptional presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an academic team
- Demonstrated ability to relate to learners and provide a positive learning environment to students working at different skill levels, including international students and students requiring accommodation, is an asset
- Strong commitment to academic excellence, student success, and ability to support Conestoga’s continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Strong relationships with industry contacts and network connections are considered an asset
Compensation is determined using a standardized wage calculation that considers education, relevant industry experience, and teaching experience. Part-Time Instructors are paid an hourly rate based on Teaching Contact Hours (up to 6 hours per week). This rate is inclusive of all academic responsibilities. The posted hourly rate represents an estimated range. Successful candidates will receive an individualized wage calculation at the time of offer.
