What is the Opportunity?

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Academic of The Oscar Peterson School of Music, the Collaborative Pianist supports excellent music programming through exemplifying leadership in coaching and accompaniment to ensure the March Break camp experience at The Oscar Peterson School of Music meets the expectations of participants and the high program values of the department.

This role provides accompaniment for all camp rehearsals and performances, supporting instructors and working with camp staff and volunteers to deliver a positive experience for all camp participants.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Learning all relevant piano accompaniment repertoire for camp choral and instrumental programs.

  • Providing piano accompaniment for all camp rehearsals and performances.

  • Providing coaching and support to campers preparing for performance.

  • Supporting teachers in individual camp classes.

  • Performing other duties as required.

What We're Looking For

  • This position may be funded through Canada Summer Jobs, which requires that the incumbent must meet the following eligibility criteria:
    • Be between 15-30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
    • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment; and
    • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in music, piano performance, or related field is preferred.
  • Ability to play diverse genres of music.
  • Ability to read choral scores.
  • Experience in improvising or vamping preferred.
  • Experience working with elementary and high school-aged students.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with students in a professional manner.
  • Verbal coaching skills.
  • Approaches tasks with a collaborative and positive attitude.

Hourly Rate

  • $25.00 per hour

Additional Information

  • This is a fixed-term hourly contract from Monday July 6 to Friday August 28, 2026.
    • Required working days are Monday through Friday each week. Part-time hours can be from 2.5 to 6 hours per working day, between 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • A valid Vulnerable Sector Check is a required condition of employment.
