Position: Teacher: Temporary, Full-Time for Upper Elementary
Location: - Hinton AB
Start Date: April 27, 2026 until June 30, 2025, or upon the return of the incumbent, whichever happens sooner.
Hours of Work: 1.0 FTE Monday-Friday
The competition will remain open until March 20, 2026 or until a suitable candidate is found.

Crescent Valley School is located in Hinton, Alberta which resides in the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division. An elementary school providing excellent education to approximately 350 students, grades JK-7.
Role and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be a collaborative person with proficiency in the use of educational technology and have an understanding of assessment for learning. The responsibilities include:

Providing instruction to promote high quality student-centered learning.

Designing and preparing lessons based on curriculum and following a variety of methodology in teaching and instructing students, including lectures, demonstrations and discussions.

Facilitating inclusive educational practices to maximize educational opportunities for all students.

Reviewing and evaluating each student's performance, knowledge and skills and meeting all reporting and assessment deadlines.

Adhering to provincial legislation, board policy and division administrative procedures.

Developing constructive relationships with parents. Modelling commitment to professional development.
Requirements
The successful candidate will:
- Possess an Alberta Teaching Certificate or be eligible for one.
- Have experience in following the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS) and infusing literacy across the curriculum.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree of Education

The Division
Grande Yellowhead School Division (GYPSD) stretches from Jasper National Park, east to Evansburg, south of Cadomin, and northwest to Grande Cache. The jurisdiction includes 17 schools, 5 Learning Connection Centres, approximately 5000 students and 600 staff. The Division is governed by seven elected Trustees.
The Board’s four main priorities are:

- Teaching and Leadership Excellence
- Community Engagement
- System Health and Wellness
GYPSD schools offer a broad range of JK-12 programs. Principals focus on strong instructional leadership using generative dialogue to support teacher growth and supervision.
The Division is noted for its commitment to strong literacy practices infused across the curriculum, inclusive education and for its innovative technology programs.

The Division is committed to strong professional development and each teacher and principal has the opportunity to apply for up to $2,500 per year to support professional learning.
The Division also provides $725 per year for teachers to allocate within a Health and Wellness Spending Account.
Available Leaves:
- Personal leave of absence, 4 days per school year
- May accumulate up to 11 personal leave days, see the Local ATA Collective Agreement for further details.

- Family Medical Leave, up to 3 days per school year

- Deferred Salary Leave Plan
