The Operational Excellence team within Pre-Construction Services (PCS) is seeking a Project Manager to improve and standardize operations for PCS departments, and support reporting activities of provincial transit projects under the Building Transit Faster Act (BTFA). In addition to processing BTFA letters, this role will transform PCS departmental data using Power BI and Microsoft Excel to develop and maintain dashboards, generate regular and ad hoc reports, and support the identification and mitigation of risks related to PCS’s support of capital projects.
What will I be doing?
- Collect, clean, transform, validate and model data to improve data quality and ensure accuracy and integrity; use insights to identify issues to mitigate PCS risks
- Perform daily operations and technical support for PCS, including but not limit to data acquisition, entry, transformation, validation, analysis, quality review, storage management, KPI and ticket dashboards update and maintenance, mailbox management, and BTFA letters
- Create regular and ad hoc technical reports from concept to completion and using insight to identify the best format and data interpretation to present and communicate to internal and external stakeholders
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and business units to identify relevant data, develop Key Performance Indicators and present data in control board forum
- Conduct ongoing data validation and quality assurance, recommending and implementing enhancements to dashboards, reports, data sets, and processes as needed
- Monitor project and program progress using tools such as Sharepoint and JIRA to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of capital projects
- Serve as a subject matter expertise, providing technical advice, data interpretation, and analytical insights to internal teams and stakeholders to support effective decision-making
- Develop presentations and provide BTFA/PCS training to internal and external stakeholders
- Develop and maintain dashboards, charts, graphs and tables using Power BI and Excel to effectively communicate PCS-related risks and issues to management, internal teams, and stakeholders
- Implement and continually improve data collection and tracking mechanisms to monitor progress on document completion, including approvals, key dates, reviews, timelines and supporting documentation
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Completion of a degree in Applied Science, Engineering, Business Analytics or Information Management, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent
- Demonstrated experience related to reporting and data analysis or similar role, with a strong track record of working with data and reporting to drive insights and support decision-making
- Technical expertise in Power BI, MS Excel and Power Query for data analysis, visualization, and reporting
- Strong knowledge of data collection and management techniques, including the ability to retrieve, interpret, and analyze data to deliver actionable insights and recommendations
- Familiar with data quality assurance processes, methodologies and tools, including testing and implementation practices to ensure data integrity and identify data inefficiencies
- Experience using Jira for project tracking and workflow management is an asset
- Knowledge of utility coordination principles and utility conflict matrices is an asset
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and interpret large datasets with attention to detail and accuracy
- Critical-thinking skills to identify trends, interpret results, and develop clear, data-driven recommendations
- Interpersonal and relationship management skills to collaborate with stakeholders and internal teams on data and information requirements
- Verbal and written communication skills to prepare clear reports, deliver presentations, and explain technical information to diverse audiences
