The salary range for this position is $252,852 - $267,300 per year. The base salary offered may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Restricted stock units will also be provided as part of the compensation package.

We are looking for an experienced Platform Engineering Manager to lead our Cloud Platform Compute teams at Wayfair. This role is responsible for driving GCP adoption across Wayfair, owning the compute infrastructure, cloud lifecycle management, and service integration platforms that power our global e-commerce operations. You'll oversee the provisioning and usage of GCP services at Wayfair while enabling engineering teams to build and deploy at scale.
What You’ll Do
- Lead a team of 20+ talented platform engineers across multiple engineering teams, including managing experienced engineering managers
- Drive GCP adoption and cloud platform strategy across Wayfair's engineering organization
- Architect and implement large-scale infrastructure migrations and platform modernization initiatives
- Own compute platform evolution built on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and cloud-native technologies
- Oversee cloud service provisioning, lifecycle management, and service integration across GCP
- Partner with engineering teams to provide self-service cloud platform capabilities that accelerate development velocity
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to develop platform capabilities that enable rapid application development and deployment
- Build and maintain robust infrastructure lifecycle management using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Foster a culture of operational excellence, automation, and continuous improvement across cloud platforms
What You’ll Need

10+ years of experience in platform engineering/SRE roles using object-oriented languages (Python, Golang, etc)

Experience managing engineering managers and leading large engineering organizations (20+ engineers)

Proven experience leading large-scale enterprise infrastructure migrations

Deep expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud architecture
-
Advanced experience with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and multi-cluster Kubernetes management
-
Advanced experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices
-
Experience driving cloud platform adoption across engineering organizations

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience implementing cloud native features with a focus on developer self-service platforms

Experience with CI/CD tools such as Argo, Buildkite, Jenkins, Spinnaker

Experience with platform observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud Monitoring, Google Cloud Logging, Datadog, Pagerduty)
Nice to Haves:

Experience with Istio/Service Mesh technologies

Experience with advanced deployment patterns (Canary, Blue/Green, A/B Testing)

Experience with Kubernetes Admission Control (Kyverno, OPA, etc)
