ABOUT ONEX:

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Director, Fund Operations based in Toronto, you will be responsible for supporting performance reporting and valuations reporting for Onex’ closed-end private equity funds. This role will interact with a wide variety of teams across the firm, providing the key insights needed to make informed decisions. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated individual to apply their passion for data-enabled decision making, interest in the financial services industry and strong work ethic towards directly contributing to the firm’s success. This role will regularly interact with various teams at Onex, including the Investment Teams, Client and Product Solutions, Corporate Finance and Enterprise Technology; as well as various third-party vendors.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Performance Reporting & Analysis:
  • Own the timely and accurate completion and delivery of certain reports and analyses for Onex’ private equity fund quarterly reporting; including deliverables related to investments and track record of investment performance
  • Assist with the development of data and analysis that supports fund investment and fundraising efforts, as well as other firm priorities
  • Assist with the administration of the software platform used to support financial analysis reporting, including execution of the data collection process, updates to the software platform for new data metrics / funds / investments, building reports, troubleshooting with third-party support, and other tasks associated with maintaining the accuracy, completeness and consistency of data being submitted to the software platform
  • Preparation of data analysis for documents prepared by Client and Product Solutions, including press releases, scripts, investor presentations, etc.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the team’s processes and deliverables
  • Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis as requested
  • Valuations Reporting:
  • Work closely with investment professionals, fund operations teams, and senior management to coordinate and oversee the quarterly valuation process for the private equity portfolio companies
  • Prepare and present summaries to internal and external stakeholders, working with investment professionals to understand and defend models, assumptions and conclusions
  • Support the financial statement auditor’s interim quarterly reviews and year-end audit, and address any additional follow-up questions / inquiries as they relate to portfolio valuations
  • Enhance valuation policies, templates, and automations to streamline quarterly cycles and respond to market and regulatory developments
  • Maintain strong relationships with investment professionals and senior management as it relates to the valuation process

WHAT YOU BRING:

Professional Characteristics

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics or MBA or other relevant degree.
  • Current pursuit of the CFA, CPA or other relevant designations.
  • Strong working experience with Excel and financial systems.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • iLevel experience is an asset.
