About the role

The Opportunity:

Our Nuclear subsector, a key component of WSP’s ERI (Energy, Resources and Industry) sector, supports clients in the nuclear industry. Our team offers a wide range of services, including technical and feasibility studies, project management, detailed design, procurement, site management, quality surveillance, commissioning and asset management. This division is operating at an exciting time as nuclear power and new technology solutions are developing globally, with Canada as a leader in nuclear refurbishments, nuclear new builds, incredible capital projects portfolios and a deep history in nuclear supply chain.

WSP is currently seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer, Nuclea r to join one of our Ontario offices. Several projects may require travel to Tiverton, Ontario, Toronto Ontario, Saint John, New Brunswick, Pickering and Oshawa, Ontario.

As part of our dynamic and growing Nuclear team, this position will play a crucial role in the design and optimization of complex power generation projects across North America. This role involves close collaboration with clients and stakeholders to understand their engineering needs, ensuring successful project coordination and management. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise and consulting experience, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and safety and have the ability to lead and mentor junior engineers and designers.

What you can expect to do here:

  • You will lead electrical engineering and design of nuclear power generation projects
  • You will lead electrical engineering and design of power plant and switchyard electrical system upgrades
  • You will lead electrical engineering and design of federal electrical system upgrades
  • You will mentor and teach junior and mid engineers
  • You will lead and manage project proposal and budget development

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution;
  • Professional engineering license (P.Eng) required;
  • Minimum of 15+ years of relevant post education experience in an electrical engineering capacity;
  • Strong experience designing nuclear power generation and/or substation projects, preferably within the engineering consulting environment required;
  • CAD, Microsoft Office, and ETAP or SKM software experience;
  • Ability to visit project sites as needed.
  • REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain Security Clearance.
