Position Overview:
You are a person who likes solving tech puzzles, being a user-friendly hero, working with cutting-edge tools, and in a collaborative, friendly environment. This role is a key part of the IT and R&D team, supporting IT needs of 100 employees across our North American business.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the IT Supervisor, the successful candidate is responsible for:
· Providing efficient and first-rate internal IT customer service support.
· Maintain and organize the Ticket system as first point of contact for staff.
· Build/upgrade computers and keep inventory. Maintain and track Hardware Inventory with proactive planning and management.
· Facilitate Desktop OS software updates and hardware upgrades.
· Maintain configuration and usability of staff computers.
· Test new software and configurations.
· Setting up and deploying IT equipment for new staff.
· Other projects may be assigned as they arise.
Job Requirements
· Related degree or program of study.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to use an organized and methodical approach to prioritize and work efficiently with multiple demands.
· Ability to troubleshoot.
· A team player willing to help out with other office matters from time to time, honesty and dependability are a must.
· Planning to pursue AZ-800, AZ-801, and CCNA or maybe have these in progress.
· Some working knowledge of Active Directory, FTP, VPN etc.…
· Knowledge of or interest in Linux and BSD is a definite asset.
· A keen interest in Open Source.
· An interest in building automation tools via scripting, programming etc is a definite asset.
· A personal interest in geography and the world of digital mapping is a ‘nice to have’ too.
· Ability to work evening and weekend shifts on occasion.
Job Classification
Location:
Mills Rd, North Saanich. Due to the hands-on nature of the job, the work is to be performed in the North Saanich, B.C office location.
Job type:
Full-time 40 hours per week
Paid sick and vacation days, wellness fund, tuition reimbursement and benefits.
Wage:
$55,000 to $60,000 per annum depending on experience. This position is eligible for overtime.
