DIRECTOR OF SALES AND OPERATIONS
About the role
We are seeking a results-driven Director of Sales & Operations to lead and optimize performance across our 4 retail stores (3 brands – Gallery 1 Furniture, Ashley HomeStore, Worldwide Furniture), and distribution centre. The role would be responsible for driving sales, revenue growth, improving operational efficiency and ensuring seamless end-to-end customer experience from showroom to delivery.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve sales goals across all locations. Lead, coach, and mentor store managers and sales teams to maximize performance. Monitor KPIs, sales metrics, and customer trends to inform business decisions. Review existing on-boarding sales training and provide recommendations for improvement. Oversee the daily operations of the stores and warehouse. Ensure efficient inventory management, logistics, and fulfillment processes. Implement operational best practices to improve productivity and reduce costs. Establish clear performance expectations and accountability frameworks. Research and monitor market trends, competitors’ sales activities, and consumer needs on a regular basis, and make recommendations on changes to implement within our operation. Act as a liaison between stores and ownership on store performance. Come prepared to meetings with ownership – communicate successes, areas for improvement, and provide suggestions for moving forward. Provide input into marketing strategy – provide feedback on recent traffic patterns and provide input on upcoming promotional planning. Ensure managers are collaborating with Human Resources as needed on review of resumes, setting up interviews, and executing the Company’s hiring process. Act as a liaison to the buying department to ensure products are aligned with consumer trends and price points. Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance across departments. Ensure a consistent and high-quality experience across all customer touchpoints. Address escalated customer concerns and implement service improvements. Establish a high-performance culture, driven by sales, excellent customer service and employee engagement. Other related duties as required by ownership.
Qualifications
Experience and Education
7+ years of leadership experience in retail/sales role. Proven success managing multi-location retail environments would be an asset. Experience in a commission sales environment is strongly preferred. Post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Finance, etc.) is preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Skills And Knowledge
Strong leadership – proven ability in managing strong performing teams. Strong business acumen and analytical skills – interest in metrics and understanding of store performance. Strong sense of urgency. Strong working knowledge of warehouse and logistics operations. Excellent communication skills – ability to build rapport with others. Ability to anticipate and identify issues and develop effective solutions – ability to think rigorously and logically.
